Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary world, length of weekend is an inevitable topic for debate. Modern work culture demands long working hours and constant productivity, leaving little time for rest or personal growth. I vehementaly accord that the working week should be shorter, and employees sjould enjoy a longer weekend, as this change would enchance mental health, productivity and overall quality of life. This essay will propound my accordance along with credible examples.
The chief rationalization for my agreement comes from multifarious reasons. Firstly, the most descernible point is a short workweek promotes better work-life balance. To elaborate clearly, many employees struggle to manage family responsibilities, hobbies and social interactions due to limited free time, due to hectic work schedule workers will get mentally drained by till the weekend and this leads to lower productivity and the quality of life and it cause mental health problems such as stress , anxiety and many more . A prime example for this can be, several Arab Emirates have experimented with four-day workweeks and reported higher employee satisfaction and lower absenteeism. Hence, extending weekends to three days would allow individuals to recharge physically and emotionally, reducing burnout and stress related illness.
Another paramount ground for my belief is productivity will not necessarily depend on the number of hours worked. To elucidate, people tend to accomplish more when they work fewer hours but with a great focus. A condensed schedule encourages efficiency, creativity and innovation, it impacts overall growth of the organization without harming worker’s personal life. For instance, tech giants like Microsoft and Google found that a four-day week increased productivity by nearly 40%. Thus, no one can deny that rest can directly boost performance.
To recapitulate, from the above disquisition unravels that reducing the working week and extending weekends is not merely luxury but a strategic improvement for modern economies. A well-rested workforce can be more productive and creative at their domine of work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student presents a clear and well-developed position throughout the essay, directly addressing whether the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of experimentation with four-day workweeks in the Arab Emirates and tech giants like Microsoft and Google. The stance is stated clearly in the introduction and maintained consistently to the conclusion. The task is fully addressed, satisfying the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are presented coherently with an appropriate overall structure, including a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'Firstly', 'Another paramount ground', and 'To recapitulate'. However, some minor awkwardness in transitional phrasing and occasional run-on sentences with faulty punctuation (e.g., 'due to hectic work schedule workers will get mentally drained by till the weekend and this leads to...') slightly disrupt the smooth flow, placing this securely in the Band 6.5 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task, including items like 'contemporary world', 'inevitable topic', 'multifarious reasons', and 'disquisition'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('vehementaly', 'sjould', 'enchance', 'descernible', 'domine') and occasional awkward collocations or word forms ('chief rationalization', 'by till the weekend'). While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the message, these frequent lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching a Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 a fair and accurate reflection.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text. Examples include 'length of weekend' (missing article), 'the most descernible point is a short workweek promotes' (tense/clause agreement issues), and run-on sentences that link independent clauses incorrectly with commas or conjunctions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to preclude a higher band, aligning well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
