Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people argue that the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I partically agree with this idea. Shorter working week leads to low salary, overload. However, there are some advantages that should not be ignored.
People are demanding to make working week shorter, which help worker to spend their time with their loved one. Shorter working week improve the bond with their family and friends.Furthermore, It make employer more active and energetic to their work. If less work day, it reduce work pressure, lonliness and lack of sleep, as a result their health will improve. A worker can enjoy his/her life and take break from workload. They can travel new palces and explore new activities and hobby. For instance, worker can explore new things like cooking, swimming and reading.
However, there are several reason, one of the main reason is low salary. Less work leads to low wages to employers which cause dissatisfication and demotivated. Moreover, shorter working weak pressure to work which effect our health. For instance, short period of time with huge amount of tasks causes to anxiety, and create pressure even in holidays which effects workers health as well as not enjoyment.
In conclusion, shorter working week has both demerits and merits, so i partially agree with this idea. Its advantage are spend time with their loved one and try new activities. And drawbacks are overload and low wages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The candidate addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of a shorter working week, presenting a clear position ('I partically agree with this idea'). However, the response is under the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 238 words, which prevents full development of ideas. While the ideas are relevant, they tend to be listed rather than thoroughly extended. For instance, the points about health improvements and salary disadvantages are mentioned briefly without deep elaboration. Furthermore, there are some contradictions, such as mentioning that a shorter week reduces pressure, but later stating that it creates pressure. Because the length requirement is not met and idea development is somewhat limited, this corresponds to Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs covering merits and demerits, and a conclusion. There is a basic attempt at logical organisation and progression. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical, faulty, or missing altogether. For example, sentences within paragraphs often lack smooth transitions, leading to a disjointed flow. Words like 'Furthermore' and 'However' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'Its advantage are spend time...' where pronoun reference and subject-verb agreement break down. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is inadequate in places. This performance fits the Band 5.0 descriptors well.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'dissatisfication', 'demotivated', 'workload', and 'lonliness'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'partically' instead of partially, 'palces' instead of places, and 'weak' instead of week. The phrasing 'low wages to employers' is also confused, as wages are typically paid to employees. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic argument, the frequency of lexical errors and limited control over less common items restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, particularly involving subject-verb agreement ('Shorter working week improve', 'Its advantage are spend time'), missing articles ('workers should have a longer weekend', 'causes to anxiety'), and awkward phrasing ('shorter working weak pressure to work which effect our health'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, with lowercase 'i' used for the pronoun 'I'. These persistent errors place the writing firmly in the Band 5.0 category.
