Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, some people believe that working week should be shorter as well as employees should have a longer weekend. This trend an increasingly popular to individuals because of mantaly and physical stress and lack of time to spent with their family. I strongly agree with this statement because this trend provide flexible time and helps to focus on personal activities; however, there are also bring certain drawbacks.
To begin with, there are several reasons why people think that shorter working hours is beneficial. Initially, working short-time provide more time to spend quality time with family and friends. For example, some developing countries allows shorter working week, then their residents get enough time to visit other places and they can spend time according to their choise. As a result, people can reduce their stress and feel more productivity. Additionally, when people working short hours, it allows them to recover mental and physical health.
Apart from this, longer weekend is quite essential for individuals because it provide extra time to travel other places. Nowadays, an increasing number of people busy with their studies or work purposes therefore they do not get enough time to visit other places. Furthermore, when people take well-rested and less stressed they could fully concentrate on completed tasks and they make fewer mastakes.
However, there are also certain disadvantages. Some occupation need to work long hours such as doctors, nurses, teachers, and many non-government employees. If they spend longer weekend, many people face some challenging situation. For example, local residents suffer a lot when they do not get proper service. Nevertheless, several industries also need to work long time, without longer working time many companies or businesses lose their popularity.
In conclusion, although some businesses or companies face disadvantages when they provide longer weekend, I believe that it is more crucial for shorter working hours because it helps to reduce stress, improve family life, and increase productivity, the overall benefits for emplyees would be greater.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether the working week should be shorter and longer weekends implemented. The student supports their view with relevant ideas, such as improved mental health and better family life, as well as acknowledging drawbacks like service disruptions in essential occupations. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the redundant mentioning of travel in multiple paragraphs. The conclusion reinforces the writer's stance effectively. Overall, the task is addressed well, fulfilling the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 performance by presenting a relevant and supported argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the benefits versus the drawbacks. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in transitions like 'Apart from this' and repetitive phrasing. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression within body paragraphs occasionally stalls due to abrupt shifts between points about health, family, and travel. Cohesive devices are present but used with some limitations. This places the response firmly in the Band 6 category for cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'developing countries', 'productivity', and 'disadvantages'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and typos throughout the essay, including 'mantaly' instead of 'mentally', 'choise' instead of 'choice', 'working short-time', and 'mastakes' instead of 'mistakes'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision and control that prevents the score from reaching Band 7. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting constructions with dependent clauses such as 'when people take well-rested and less stressed'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'some people believe that working week should be', 'this trend an increasingly popular', 'people working short hours', and 'Some occupation need'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical inaccuracies are recurrent. Although communication is rarely impeded entirely, the high frequency of errors places this grammar performance at Band 5.5.
