Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that the working week should be shorter and workers should have three holidays. However, the development of ideas is heavily hindered by confusion, irrelevant proverbs, and vague expressions. For instance, phrases like 'A sound soul has a sound body' and the quote 'early to bed, early to rise' are inserted instead of well-reasoned arguments. While some relevant points are attempted regarding family care and physical rest, they remain underdeveloped and lack proper analytical depth. The conclusion also introduces extraneous thoughts rather than summarizing the main arguments effectively. Overall, the response meets the basic requirements of addressing the task, but the quality of idea extension places it at a Band 5.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates basic organizational attempts with paragraph breaks, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and disjointed sentences. Expressions such as 'Accordance with' and 'One promising procedure narrates the child-care center' are unnatural and fail to establish clear cohesive ties between ideas. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the inclusion of informal transitional phrases ('To begin with', 'To illusrates') feels mechanical rather than genuinely supportive of the discourse. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak, resulting in an overall arrangement that lacks seamless progression. This aligns closely with the characteristics of Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is largely basic and repetitive, featuring frequent reliance on common words and inappropriate collocations. Examples of awkward word choices include 'job holders', 'mantal or physical growth', and 'emergence of enjoyable sites'. The student attempts to integrate idioms and proverbs ('early to bed, early to rise makes a men healthy'), but these are mechanically applied and contain spelling or grammatical inaccuracies ('men' instead of 'man'). While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic intent, noticeable errors in word choice and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the lexical range firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in faulty or unnatural phrasing. There are numerous persistent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'there off days should be longer enough', 'If our body is quite fresh and healthier', and 'can made history'. Punctuation and spacing errors (e.g., missing spaces after commas like 'begin with,It') also detract from the overall technical control. Because the frequency of errors is high and often impedes clear understanding, the grammar is best assessed at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for overall comprehensibility.
