Student answer (Band 5.5)
Sometime people goes tired from their job routine and need some rest to prepare themselves for next week both mentaly and physically. While it is often argued that individuals should have fewer working days in order to enjoy a longer weekend. I partially agree with the viewpoint and reason is that, duration of rest days depends upon individual situation and circumstances.
On the one hand, longer weekend is necessary for the community members involve in tired working routine. It is mandatory to have enough time to recharge their brain and regain their physical strenght and the best way is longer weekend. For exmaple, labour need good amount of rest to able to work again, surgens needs meditation and mental relaxation after opreation or sugery. However, weekend is not just to halt themselves from work but also required to to fulfill responsibilites like spending time with family, completing other important tasks scheduled to do at weekend etc.
On the other hand, undoubtly long weekend is esential but it also leads to some drawbacks. This is human psychology that if we adopt a routine for couple of days, our body and mind get used to it and the consequances includes unproductivity, laziness and effect to work in weekdays. For instance, due to longer weekend , students might lose interest in learning, working routine may get disturb in office, average household income decrease gradually cause to compromise in living standard. In my opinion, It is recommended to have short working days especially for person having comfirtable working routine in order to grow in respective field and enhace productivity.
In conclusion, equilibrium is the key. Nither resting completely is good nor having more relaxation during working days is acceptable. A balanced approach is the one that work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position, stating that the author partially agrees with the prompt. Relevant ideas are introduced regarding both the benefits of rest, such as recharging mental and physical strength for labourers and surgeons, and the potential drawbacks like unproductivity and laziness. However, some ideas remain under-developed or unclear. For instance, the discussion on how a longer weekend might affect household income and living standards is introduced abruptly without sufficient expansion or specific examples. To reach a higher level, the writer would need to fully extend and support all main arguments with deeper explanations and more comprehensive examples rather than relying on brief over-generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance split across logical body paragraphs, utilizing standard transition markers like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to structure the response. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing and linking within sentences occasionally feel disjointed, such as in the opening sentence fragment 'While it is often argued that individuals should have fewer working days in order to enjoy a longer weekend. I partially agree...' where punctuation disrupts the logical flow. Additionally, some cohesive devices are overused or repetitively structured. To improve, the writer needs to ensure smoother transitions between clauses and more precise referencing to enhance the progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'equilibrium', 'consequences', and 'unproductivity'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally hinder precision. Examples of lexical slips include 'mentaly' instead of 'mentally', 'strenght' instead of 'strength', 'surgens' instead of 'surgeons', 'opreation' instead of 'operation', 'sugery' instead of 'surgery', and 'comfirtable' instead of 'comfortable'. Furthermore, collocations and word forms are sometimes awkward, such as 'effect to work' instead of 'effect on work' or 'cause to compromise' instead of 'causing a compromise'. These errors reflect an adequate rather than flexible lexical control. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and eliminate spelling and word-formation errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that persist throughout the text. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Sometime people goes' instead of 'Sometimes people go', and missing articles or incorrect plurals, such as 'labour need' instead of 'labourers need' and 'average household income decrease' instead of 'decreases'. Punctuation errors are also present, such as placing a full stop before the main clause in the introduction. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher level of grammatical control. To improve, the student should focus on basic agreement rules, article usage, and accurate punctuation in complex structures.
