Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been observed that working patterns have a significant impact on employees' personal and professional lives. Although some people believe that the duration of working days should be shortened so that worker can have an extended weekend. I firmly disagree with the given statement. My inclination is elaborated in ensuing paragraph and relevant examples.

The foremost argument to justify my stand is that lower productivity if workers don't working to the time table then company produce less production so that was the disadvantage of company and they are in loss. Besides this, It is also true that our government also take a loss beacuse government receive taxes from that type of businesses, Therefore company's selling is not high then it's direct effect in company's earning and its negative effect also goes on government.

Furthermore, The other reason to prove my point is even employer have to face the negative impact about salaries because of that if workers don't have a time then he doesn't complete his task and if he never give his time to a company as a employer then company also don't give increment and extra paids. In addition, The fact that customer also feel irregular and bad services if employer doesn't give the right answer and services to the customer then he's negative feedback can reduce company's credit and losses future customers.

To conclude the discussion, It can be said that despite the fact of employe's lower salary and customer's feedback for our services and product quality, My reason is that company can't take the losses in the profit margin and because of that government also has negative impacts are logically acceptable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, taking a clear stance against a shorter working week, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding productivity is introduced as 'lower productivity if workers don't working to the time table', but this concept lacks extension, specific examples, or clear supporting details. Similarly, the points concerning government tax revenues and customer service impacts are mentioned briefly without being fully explored or logically expanded. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with well-supported explanations and relevant examples that reinforce the main position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inaccurate, inadequate, or repetitive. For example, transition phrases like 'Besides this,' and 'In addition,' are used mechanically, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when the pronoun 'he' is used confusingly to refer to employers, workers, and customers interchangeably within the same sentence structure. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak. Achieving a higher band requires logical sequencing of information, smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and precise referencing to maintain a clear and continuous flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'consequences', 'productivity', and 'credit', but noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation cause difficulty for the reader. Instances such as 'produce less production', 'company's selling', and 'extra paids' demonstrate a lack of precision and awkward phrasing. Additionally, there are word-formation issues like 'employe's lower salary'. To reach a higher lexical band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, use less common lexical items accurately with a strong awareness of collocation and word form, and minimise errors in word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and verb form errors such as 'don't working' and 'government also take a loss', subject-verb agreement issues, and missing articles or incorrect prepositions. Furthermore, attempts at complex sentence forms are frequently faulty, leading to run-on sentences and punctuation issues, such as in the sentence beginning with 'Therefore company's selling is not high...'. To improve, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex structures and exercise better control over basic grammatical rules, punctuation, and sentence boundaries.
