Student answer (Band 6.0)
I would greatly agree with the working week being reduced to 4 days. This has been under reasearch for quite some time now, and the countries following this schedule are a factual proof that this results in increased productivity and greater employee satisfaction. Having only 2 days on a weekend can be a bit hard for longer trips, but with 3 days as a long weekend people can make longer trips and go for camping for 2 days and have ample time for travelling for bot coming back and going, and resting before the new week starts again.
Similarly people with long distance relationships, either family or romantic can have more time to meet and spend with one another, which will definitely increase the employee happiness. If people are happy that would definitely result in them being more productive in their work.
Nowadays the work paradigm has also greatly changed. It has been proven through multiple research that humans perform more and better when they are more focused. Humans are naturally meant to work with utter focus for shorter durations. A simple task can be completed in a short time and then later on more time would be required in managing the solution as it wasnt scalable. but if the person was focused, greater chances are that person would have suggested a better and less maintenence required solution in the first place so actually more time will be saved later on. This is why i think it would be greatly beneficial if we shift to shorter work weeks as people can stay more focused and committed while being more happy and peaceful with their personal lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating and supporting your position in favour of a shorter working week. You successfully present relevant ideas, such as increased productivity, employee satisfaction, and better work-life balance for people in long-distance relationships. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the benefits of a three-day weekend for travel and personal relationships are elaborated on in the first two paragraphs, the final paragraph touches on the shifting work paradigm and scalability quite briefly and slightly unclearly without fully exploring the connection. To reach the next level, every main idea needs to be extended with equal depth and clarity throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance presented right from the beginning in the introduction. Ideas are generally grouped logically, with the first paragraph focusing on lifestyle and travel benefits, the second on relationships and well-being, and the final paragraph on productivity and focus. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or a bit faulty. For instance, the transition 'Similarly people with long distance relationships' lacks necessary punctuation, and referencing through pronouns like 'it' in 'as it wasnt scalable' is occasionally unclear. Paragraphing is present, but managing transitions more smoothly and ensuring referencing is precise would elevate the organizational quality.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items and phrases such as 'work paradigm', 'scalable', and 'utter focus'. However, there are some spelling and word-choice errors that occur, such as the spelling mistake 'reasearch' and 'maintenence', as well as awkward phrasing like 'bot coming back' instead of 'both coming back'. These minor inaccuracies do not impede communication, which places your vocabulary control firmly in this band. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for greater precision in word choice and eliminate spelling slips while incorporating more sophisticated collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as conditional clauses ('If people are happy that would definitely result in...') and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing commas in complex sentences ('Similarly people with long-distance relationships...'), missing apostrophes in contractions ('wasnt'), and minor prepositional or article issues. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To move up to higher bands, you need to produce more frequent error-free sentences while maintaining a wide variety of complex structures with tighter punctuation control.
