Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's rapidly evolving world, many people want shorter working week and longer weekend. They want four days or a four-a-half days work in a week. I strongly agree workers have longer weekend because they involved in other activities.
Firstly, the workers who take long weekend they can involved in other activities. They interact with people and contribute to achieve attractive tasks. They feel relaxed and remain calm when they get longer weekend at office. They go for a travelling and they feel happy. After work break, they also save fuel. They can easily spend much time with family and friends. When they spend much time with their family, their family can also feel happyand satisfy. In hustle routine, they feel comfortable and relaxed at home. For example, when worker at home in weekend they spend time with family and enjoy that time. They go to dinner with family and they do some attractive activities. They listened music and enjoyed their weekend. The people who like planting and art. They spend weekend to spend time to hobbies such as, planting and art.
Secondly, the worker who have shorter working week they loss their interest in work. And they can easily distract to their work. Their confidence to communicate with workers are drop because they communicate with few days. And the significant reason of shorter working week is that they can't do their task properly. For example, in the shorter working week workers take their task in hurry and they can't do properly. The company has face loss.
In conclusion, their are many advantages of longer weekend but has many disadvantages of shorter working week. On the one hand, if they save fuel other side company face loss. So, I agree workers have balanced weekend where they feel relaxed and do their task properly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially by discussing both the advantages of longer weekends and the disadvantages of a shorter working week, presenting a somewhat clear position by the conclusion. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, showing a tendency to present repetitive points without sufficient expansion. For instance, the discussion on workers engaging in other activities lists basic points like going for a travelling, spending time with family, and doing hobbies, but these ideas lack detailed support and strong examples. Furthermore, the second body paragraph introduces a contradictory argument regarding workers losing interest and companies facing losses, which muddies the overall progression of the argument. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the prompt with well-supported arguments and clear, consistent reasoning throughout every paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation in the response, featuring clear paragraph breaks that separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, as the transition between supporting points feels abrupt and repetitive. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and inaccurately, such as the repetitive use of 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly,' alongside faulty referencing where pronoun links like 'they' and 'their' become unclear in sentences such as 'And they can easily distract to their work.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion requires improvement to ensure ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next. To achieve a higher score, the writer must use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure that logical relationships between sentences and paragraphs are clearly maintained.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic concepts about working hours and leisure time. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'four-a-half days work', 'go for a travelling', 'family can also feel happyand satisfy', and 'hustle routine'. Spelling and morphological mistakes, such as 'listened' instead of 'listen' and 'loss' instead of 'lose', occur throughout the text and cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve in this area, the writer needs to expand their lexical range and pay closer attention to natural word combinations, correct word forms, and accurate spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb patterns. When the writer attempts complex sentences, they are often faulty, featuring frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and agreement. Examples of errors include 'workers who take long weekend they can involved', 'workers who have shorter working week they loss', and 'the company has face loss'. Punctuation errors and missing prepositions also occur regularly, and these frequent mistakes can cause some difficulty and confusion for the reader. To reach the next band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures while significantly reducing the frequency of basic errors in tense, agreement, and sentence construction.
