Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries employees work long hours during a week and got a limited time for rest and family . while some people believe that working hours should be less so they got longer weekend . I am totally agree with this statement because shorter the wroking can improver the workers well being and productivity also.
Firstly, A Shorter working week have positive impact on employees physical and mental health . People who work long hours experience stress , anxiety, tiredness and poor work life balance . In contrast , if they got a extra day off they would have enough time to sleep ,exercise , spend a quality time with their family ,friends and pursue thier interest. as a result next they will be more active and concentrated at work .
Secondily, reducing the working hours does not necessarily mean less productivity . when employees have given sufficient time to rest they will more focused and complete their tasks more efficiently. For instance, instead of working too long while feeling exhausted employees should work less hours with great focus. This could reduce the errors and improve the overall quality of work .
However, some businesess face difficulties with working short hours particularly who give 24/7 customer services . They should introduce flexible hours shifts to their employees so that services remain available while workers still benfit with working short week.
In conclusion , i strongly agree that workers should have shorter wroking week and longer weekends . In my perspective this improves employees well being while maintaing potentially

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position throughout in favor of a shorter working week and longer weekends. The main ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing physical and mental health benefits, as well as the impact on productivity. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize in places, which is characteristic of this band level. For instance, the discussion on how workers will always be more focused and make fewer errors could be balanced with more specific real-world nuance to push into higher bands. Overall, the prompt is fully satisfied with relevant and extended arguments throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organisation throughout, successfully bridging into some features of higher bands while fully anchoring in the current level. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, starting with health benefits, moving to productivity, addressing a counter-argument regarding businesses, and concluding nicely. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, seen through simple transitional links like 'Firstly' and 'Secondily', alongside minor referencing issues where pronouns lack completely clear antecedents. To reach the next level, the writer would need to employ a wider and more sophisticated variety of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'well-being', 'productivity', and 'exhausted'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect the current band level, such as 'wroking' instead of working, 'businesess', 'benfit', and awkward collocations like 'working short hours'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they highlight an inconsistency in lexical accuracy and a limited control over spelling and word forms. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range with greater precision and eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use subordination and conditional structures like 'when employees have given sufficient time to rest they will more focused'. However, there are frequent errors in verb forms, voice, articles, and punctuation, such as 'got a limited time', 'shorter the wroking can improver', and missing auxiliary verbs in passive constructions. Punctuation is also erratic, with misplaced commas separating subjects from verbs. These errors persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede overall communication. Improving grammatical accuracy and reducing structural errors will be essential for the writer to progress.
