Student answer (Band 5.5)
Most people argue that the working week should be shorter and provide a longer weekend to workers. I largely agree with this statement and i believe that longer weekend provide several benefits to workers such as they may feel relaxed after busy working days and it helps workers to focus on work , as a result the productivity will enhance. It also helps in ruducing the chance of error during work.
One major reason to support this statement is that the longer weekend help workers to do more focus on work and enhance the productivity. Long weekend allow workers to spend time with family and feel relaxe . When workers are relaxed then the chance of error will reduce. For example, workers in an organization work eight hour in a day and 5 days in a week, they may get bore and feel under pressure. Longer weekend allow them to spend soem time with family and feel relax. As a result the error chace will minimise and productivity will enhance.
Another major reason is that the longer weekend enable workers to release unnecessary stress and anxiety. During the week days, when they work in an organization , it may cause anxiety , stress and depression. Long weekend offer them to go to visit and release unnecesary stress and anxiety.
In conclusion, although the short working weeks have some drawbacks both for workers and organization or business, it offers several benefits such as allow workers to take rest, enhance productivity, reduce the chance of error and release unnecessary stress and anxiety after busy week days. I agree that the workers should have a longer weekend

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing that the working week should be shorter and weekends longer. Relevant ideas are presented, such as increased productivity, reduced chance of error, and stress relief. However, some ideas are under-developed and repetitive, particularly the points regarding productivity and reducing errors, which are restated across multiple paragraphs without being extended with deep examples or elaboration. Furthermore, the mention of drawbacks in the conclusion is not supported earlier in the text. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully develop each supporting argument with specific, well-reasoned examples rather than relying on repetitive claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, such as focus/productivity and stress relief. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, with over-reliance on phrases like "Another major reason is that the longer weekend enable..." and repetitive transitions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear or imprecise, such as in the concluding paragraph where plural and singular forms clash. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer should employ a wider variety of cohesive devices naturally and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs without falling into repetitive structural patterns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary such as "productivity," "unnecessary stress and anxiety," and "organization." However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as "ruducing" instead of reducing, "reloxe" instead of relaxed, and "error chace" instead of chance of error. Collocations are also occasionally strained, such as "do more focus on work" instead of focus more on work. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they limit the precision and flexibility of the writing. To move higher, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and eliminate spelling and word-choice inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as "When workers are relaxed then the chance of error will reduce." There are, however, some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like "longer weekend enable" instead of enables, missing articles, and awkward prepositional phrases. Punctuation errors, such as unspaced commas and capitalization issues, also appear. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument without significant difficulty. To improve, the writer needs to increase grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and article usage in complex structures.
