Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an onging debate whether weekend should be longer or shorter. Some people think working week ought to be reduce and employers should have a long time to spend on weekends. I completely agree with this statement and i will give my reasons in this essay to justify my statement.
To begin with, from my perspective, having longer time for weekends plays a crucial role in individuals mental health. If a person will be fully free for two days, he/she will be more active and enthusiasitic for his work on coming Monday. Working for many hours and days could make them weak by both mentally and physically. Many people who lives alone in hostels might got enough time for their personal works. They could do their loundry, cooking etc. Moreover, persons who wants to meet their relatives they could visit them and can spend more time with their family.
Beyond this, having long weekend makes their mind more creative because many people do extra curricular activites in their free time and this habit made thier mind refreshing and relaxing and they might have many ideas for their work. Although working for long time makes a person successful and professional but it also comes with stress and strict routine.
To sum up, there is no doubt in this ,that working hard for long period of time comes with growth and better future but there are also certain drawbacks of it. Therefore, empolyers should have longer weekends to elax and for self growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and consistent position in favour of a shorter working week and longer weekends. The main ideas, such as the benefits to mental health and personal life, are relevant and supported with explanations like doing laundry, cooking, and meeting relatives. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or general, such as the mention of extracurricular activities without further elaboration. The writing successfully meets the lower band requirements by presenting a clear stance and relevant arguments, while showing elements of the next band through its clear overall focus on the prompt, though deeper exploration of economic or societal impacts would be needed to reach a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction through body paragraphs focusing on mental health and creativity, to a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, and basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Beyond this' are employed to guide the reader. However, some cohesion feels mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift between 'employers' and 'workers'. The response successfully meets the lower band criteria through its overall organization, while glimpses of the next band are visible in the clear linear structure of the arguments, though more flexible and subtle transitions are needed for further progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'enthusiastic', 'extracurricular activities', and 'professional'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'onging', 'reduce' instead of 'reduced', 'loundry', 'thier', and the confusion between 'employees' and 'empolyers'. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The response meets the lower band criteria by providing enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, but to achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate greater precision in word choice, correct spelling, and more accurate control over collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional clauses ('If a person will be fully free...') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'weekend should be longer' (missing article), 'people who lives', 'might got enough time', and 'persons who wants'. Complex sentence attempts often contain grammatical flaws. These errors reflect the characteristics of the target band, where grammatical mistakes are noticeable and can occasionally cause the reader some difficulty, showing that while a foundation of structure exists, greater control over accuracy and complex sentence formation is required.
