Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an arguement about working week time, as it should me minimise therefore employees should enjoy extended weekend. However, from my perspective there is no need to reduce weekdays. Because, shorter working time may increase the workload of working people. Consequently they may suffer from work family conflict and mental health challenges.
In case of less working hour does not mean that the number occupational duties would be less. If an employee requires to fulfil plenty of tasks in a very scarce time, it will surely rise his workload. Consequently, he would prefer to complete his work while at home. Therefore, it can raise work family conflict.
Another possible reason for not having shortened work week is it may destroy workers mental health. Existing research revealed that work stress has bad consequences about individual mental health. If a person spend extensive hour without taking rest and proper sleep, it can cause psychological disorders including insomia, depression and anxiety.
In conclusion, i disagree to the notion there shoyld be longer weekend and shortend weekdays. Because, it can disturb both work and family life when there would not be proper boundries between work and family life. Moreover, excessive stress about the completion of task can increase in ratio of psychological problems. So, it is very crucial to have long work weekdays and two days of weekend for balance lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance against shortening the working week, supporting this with reasons such as increased workload and mental health concerns. However, the length requirement is not met, as the essay contains 228 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. While the ideas regarding work-family conflict and stress are relevant, they remain somewhat limited and under-developed, lacking specific real-world examples. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand the word count past the minimum threshold and provide fully elaborated arguments with concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance maintained throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct point, such as work-family conflict and mental health. Nevertheless, cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or repetitive, as seen in the frequent use of 'Consequently' and 'Therefore' at the start of sentences. Referencing is also somewhat faulty at times. To progress further, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'psychological disorders', 'insomnia', and 'boundries'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors, such as 'arguement', 'me minimise', 'insomia', 'shoyld', 'shortend', and 'boundries'. Word choice and word form inaccuracies also occur, such as 'long work weekdays' instead of 'long work weeks'. These lexical errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must focus on accurate spelling, correct word forms, and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions, such as 'In case of less working hour does not mean', 'If an employee requires to fulfil', 'rise his workload', and 'If a person spend extensive hour'. Punctuation and agreement errors also persist. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to restrict the score. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences and exercise tighter control over complex grammatical patterns.
