Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's fast paced world, many peoples spend a significant amount of time at work, leaving them with limited time to relax and spend time with their family. Some people having their opinion that the working weakend should be shortened to provide employees with a longer weekend. I completely agree with this thought beacause it will improve the worker physical and mental health and increase productivity.

One major reason, beacause of which I am agree at shorter weekend is that it can improve employee mental and physical health. However, working for long hours can lead to lack concentration, fatique, injuries and also effect the efficiency of work. And it can effect people's personal and professional lives.

So, by having a additional day for workers put a positive effect by improving

their social life, they have a reasonable time to spend with families and do some healthy physical activities that make them more energetic and fresh.

Another significant advantages is that shorter working hours may increase productivity. When workers are well-rested they are more likely to concentrate on their tasks and make fewer mistakes. In contrast, longer working hours with no rest may reduce the efficiency and lead to pour performance. F or instace, the companies that introduce a four day working week may find that their workers complete their tasks more quickly because they manage their time more effectively during working hours.

However, some businesses, particularly hospitals and emergency services, cannot simply decline in their working hours. In such cases employers could introduce rotating shifts to ensure that the essential services remain available.

In conclusion, i strongly agree that the working week should be shorter and weekend should be longer. This change may have kind of positive impact for employers and employees as well. It could be helpful for better workers physical and mental health and also improve the productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear, well-supported position throughout. The writer explicitly states agreement with the proposition of a shorter working week from the introduction to the conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported, such as arguing that well-rested workers make fewer mistakes and referencing potential company trials like a four-day working week. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize in certain claims, and some arguments are slightly repetitive, such as the repeated emphasis on mental and physical health across different body paragraphs. These characteristics align well with a solid performance where main ideas are presented and extended, yet require slightly more depth and varied support to reach the highest levels.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical flow from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as health benefits, productivity gains, and necessary exceptions for essential services like hospitals. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, with noticeable issues in referencing and transitional phrases. For instance, transitional expressions like 'One major reason, beacause of which I am agree at shorter weekend' and 'Another significant advantages' disrupt the natural progression. Furthermore, pronoun referencing is occasionally unclear, requiring the reader to work harder to connect ideas across sentences. These features reflect a clear logical structure overall, but with mechanical and sometimes inaccurate cohesive devices that limit smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to communicate basic ideas about employment, health, and productivity. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'professional lives,' 'emergency services,' and 'effectively,' but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling. Examples of errors include 'peoples' instead of 'people,' 'weakend' instead of 'week,' 'fatique,' 'effect' instead of 'affect,' and 'pour performance.' While these lexical errors and spelling mistakes do not heavily impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict the score, showing an adequate resource that falls short of higher precision and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and concessive clauses, as seen in 'When workers are well-rested they are more likely to concentrate' and 'However, some businesses... cannot simply decline in their working hours.' Nevertheless, there are persistent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and agreement. Examples include 'Some people having their opinion,' 'I am agree at shorter weekend,' 'by having a additional day,' and lowercase 'i' pronouns. These errors in grammar and punctuation occur alongside mixed sentence accuracy, meaning that while communication is rarely impeded entirely, the frequency of basic structural slips prevents the writing from achieving error-free complexity.
