Student answer (Band 6.0)

Working days per week should be reduced and workers should enjoy long holidays at the end of week. Longer weekends result in longer rest, which will ultimately make workers mind fresh and they will put their best to perform their tasks.

Nowadays, life has become very busy. People are working round the clock without caring of their health. Some people are not finding time to spend with their family, due to this gaps are increasing between people and their families. It is also the main reason why the divorce rates are increasing significantly in the present world. Like, a person woke up early in the morning, did some domestic chores, then got ready, had his breakfast and leave for the office without meeting his children who were sleeping. And in the office he worked a lot and after the office time when he went home, all of his family was waiting to have dinner with him and to have a long drive along him. But he reached home so exhausted that he merely ate anything and got sleep. This whole schedule carry on till all his life. Due to this, it is said to have longer weekends so that on ine day people will take rest and on the second day they will spend time with their family and enjoy moments with them. Due to this their mental health will also be encouraged and they will be more energetic in order to perform their office tasks.

I would strongly agree with this idea because working nine to five for six days a week is not good for a person health. And if there are longer weekends people will find a lot of time to work on their selves and groom their selves. During this free time they will work on their aims and ambitions and enjoy do what they want to do inspite of the traditional work which was assigned to them. Like in various countries of the world the span of weekends in increased and those countries have seen considerable changes in the health of people and also observes positive outcomes in regard to their work.

In conclusion, long weekend will help people to find more time for themselves and ultimately their health will become good, so they will put their best in their work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, fully agreeing with the proposition. Relevant ideas regarding family life, mental health, and productivity are presented, fulfilling the core requirements. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the narrative about the father waking up, going to work, and returning exhausted is extended, but certain implications could be tightened, showing the characteristics of a response bridging towards higher levels where all ideas are robustly and evenly elaborated without repetitive phrasing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving naturally from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing social and professional impacts, and ending with a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Nowadays', 'Like', and 'In conclusion', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'Due to this'. Progression is generally logical, yet paragraph-to-paragraph transitions would benefit from smoother linking to achieve a more seamless flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items like 'significantly', 'exhausted', and 'considerable changes'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors that reflect a developing lexicon, such as 'worker's mind fresh' instead of 'workers' minds fresh', 'caring of their health' instead of 'caring about', and 'inspite of' rather than 'instead of'. Spelling and word formation are mostly functional, but these inaccuracies show that control of style and precision is still emerging.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as tense inconsistencies ('woke up', 'did', 'got ready... and leave', 'carry on'), article omissions ('a person health'), and prepositional issues, but these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. The majority of simple structures are controlled, while attempts at complex patterns yield a mixture of accurate clauses and minor slips.
