Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task minimally, presenting a clear position of disagreement with the statement, but the ideas are undeveloped and heavily generalised. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 208 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. The arguments regarding laziness, business profit, and children's education are stated briefly without sufficient support or relevant examples. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand the response to meet the minimum word count and fully develop each main point with detailed explanations and concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay displays basic paragraphing and attempts to sequence ideas logically, but information and ideas are not arranged cohesively throughout. Cohesive devices are very basic or inaccurate, such as 'Now a days', 'Secondly', and 'Take an example of kids', which creates a mechanical and disjointed feel. Referencing is frequently unclear, notably in phrases like 'we will discuse on it' and 'due to this example'. To improve cohesion, the writer should use a wider and more accurate range of linking words and ensure that pronouns and referencing clearly connect ideas between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors that strain the reader's understanding. Examples of poor word choice and collocation include 'weekness of youth', 'interest is loss', and 'economic declined increased'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'discuse' and 'evry'. The range of vocabulary is barely adequate to communicate the basic argument. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire by learning correct word forms, collocations, and spelling, and by reducing reliance on overly simple, repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on basic sentence structures, and frequent errors distort meaning. There are multiple issues with verb forms, tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'workers need a weekend as a longer', 'youth of the people are need', and 'if kid are also need'. Punctuation is also problematic, including comma splices like 'most of the people are agree with this statement but i not agree, the reason is...'. To move up, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex structures with improved accuracy in verb tenses, articles, and plurals.
