Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that working week should be reduced, allowing employees to enjoy a longer weekend. I completly agree with this view because shorter working hours can improve worker's well-being and productivity.

On the One hand, one the major reason is less working hours can improve employess's mental health and physical well-being. However, Fewer working hours reduced stress and tiredness for the employee. Followed by this, they have more time to rest and recover thier body. Additionally, workers can spend their remaining time with family, friends and also on different outdoor and indoor activities. For example, employee who have sufficient time to rest may return with more energy and concentration. As a result, workers can manage their work-life balance properly.

On the other hand, longer weekends can make employee more productive during their working days. Futhermore, well-rested worker can more concentrate on their work and reduced mistakes in the work, so its also beneficial for employer also. Consequently, employee may feel more motivated and energetic with shorter working days, when employee have less exhaustion, it will be reflect on their work with some fewer mistakes. For instance, a three-day weekend could give workers enough time to relax, spend time with their families and pursue personal interests. Resulting of this, companies can benefit from more productive workers.

In conclusion, i strongly agree that working week should be shortened and employee should have longer weekends, as this

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in agreement with shorter working weeks, and relevant ideas regarding well-being and productivity are introduced. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, relying heavily on repetition rather than deep expansion or varied supporting examples. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, finishing abruptly mid-sentence in the conclusion and failing to meet the minimum word length requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 235 words. To reach a higher band, the writer must fully develop all main ideas with specific explanations and examples, ensure proper completion of the essay, and fulfill the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization with recognizable introduction and body paragraphs, and employs basic signposts such as "On the One hand" and "On the other hand". However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow is disrupted by repetitive reasoning and mechanical, sometimes inaccurate use of cohesive devices, such as "Followed by this" and "Resulting of this". Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete. To improve, the writer needs to ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one without circling back to the same points, and use a wider variety of cohesive links smoothly and accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with simple terms like "work-life balance," "energy," and "productivity." However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling throughout the text, including "completly" instead of completely, "employess's" instead of employees', "thier" instead of their, and awkward phrasing such as "reduced mistakes in the work." These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause slight strain for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the student should expand their range of less common lexical items, pay closer attention to word formation and collocation, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and straightforward complex patterns. When the student attempts complex forms, frequent errors appear in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as "working week should be reduced" missing an article, "less working hours can improve" where fewer should be used with countable nouns, and "when employee have less exhaustion, it will be reflect." These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater grammatical accuracy and maintain consistent control over basic agreement and verb forms.
