Student answer (Band 5.5)
Hardwork is the key of success. People work for take care of their families. But, individuals think that the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I strongly agree with this statement. This essay will explain the initial reasons with proper explanations.
First and foremost, I agree with this statement because people who burning the midnight oil to take care of their families, they should get a longer weekend to recover themselves. After a hardwork weekend is the only solution to get a refreshment and relaxation. People who work in a industrial company or who work with their physical strength, they need a longer weekend most. For instance, the workers of a garments do work about 12-15 hours in a day. For that reason, they need a longer weekend to recover their body from tiredness and can come back to work with a spirit.
In contrast, there are some drawbacks of this statement. People can be lazy by getting a longer weekend. They won't be able to work with full concentration after a long break. They won't be able to focus to their works properly. Furthermore, some corporate company would cut their paycheck. For this reason, workers can suffer to maintain their families and it can be a huge hassle for them and their families. For example, if a worker need 1000 dollar to run his family, if company reduce paycheck and make that 800. It will be hard for them to run their family with full support.
In conclusion, I stronglu agree with this view because it will be a great thing to make workers more productive and they can also give themselves a refreshement. Although, there are some fallbacks cause there is a high chance that they could be lazy. Nevertheless, it will make them able to relax their body if there will be a longer weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task, taking a clear and consistent position in strong agreement with the prompt. The overall argument is evident throughout, and the 13 words copied from the prompt were not counted towards the overall length. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the need for physical and mental recovery alongside potential drawbacks like decreased productivity and reduced income. However, some ideas remain under-developed or briefly stated, lacking deeper elaboration. For instance, the counterargument regarding corporate companies cutting paychecks is introduced with a simple example about a worker needing one thousand dollars, but this point could be extended further to fully demonstrate the nuances of the issue. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all main ideas with richer explanation and more sophisticated supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical progression. The text is divided into appropriate paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing advantages and drawbacks, and finishing with a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always completely clear. For example, transitional phrases like "First and foremost," "In contrast," and "In conclusion" are utilised, but some cohesive devices within sentences feel repetitive or awkward, such as "People who work in a industrial company or who work with their physical strength, they need a longer weekend most." To improve, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between sentences and vary cohesive devices so that the flow of ideas feels more natural and less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to express basic ideas. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items and idiomatic phrases, such as "burning the midnight oil" and "physical strength." However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader or require rereading. Examples include "Hardwork is the key of success" (instead of "to success"), "work for take care" (instead of "to take care"), "a industrial company" (instead of "an industrial company"), and "a refreshement" (instead of "refreshment"). Spelling and morphological slips also occur, such as "stronglu." To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range and use less common words with greater precision and correct collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures such as conditional clauses and relative clauses. There is an effort to construct varied sentence patterns; however, frequent errors in grammar and punctuation persist throughout the text. These include issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, such as "people who burning the midnight oil... they should get" (unnecessary pronoun duplication and incorrect participle form), "focus to their works properly" (preposition error), and "if a worker need... if company reduce" (agreement errors). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to keep the grammar score at this level. To progress, the writer must focus on improving sentence structure accuracy and eliminating basic grammatical slips.
