Student answer (Band 5.5)

The working days in a week should be decreased with increase in weelend holidays. The main reason behind this statement is lack of family time and less anxiety about monday work. I agree with statement due to its long-term benefits for comapny and employees.

In recent years, divorce rate has risen drametically all over the world .The root cause of this trend is that working pressure on employees has risen significantely in every sector of an economy that led to people are spending less time with their family, as they spent more time to complete their projects on the deadline. As a result, couples spent very less time nurturing their relationship. For instance, some couple are spending less time together due to corporate culture that led to emotional deattachment. therefore, i believe that increasing weekend holidays will be benefical for employees overall mental health.

The less working days in week is an effective way to improve productivity of the workers in a company. The workers may have less stress due to more time in vacations. Since they will have more time to enjoy and reffresh their mind without worrying about their work on monday

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the prompt. While a clear position is stated regarding the agreement with a shorter working week, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the link between working pressure and divorce rates is introduced but not sufficiently explained or supported with relevant evidence beyond general assertions. Furthermore, an important limitation of this submission is that the word count requirement is not met, as the response falls significantly short of the minimum 250 words. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend all main ideas with well-developed supporting examples and ensure the text meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation in the essay, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the transitions between ideas can feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as starting multiple sentences with phrases like 'for instance' or 'as a result', and some referencing is unclear, such as 'that led to people are spending'. To improve, the writer should ensure a smoother flow of ideas from one paragraph to the next by varying cohesive ties and establishing a clearer logical progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for expressing basic thoughts. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ('weelend', 'comapny', 'drametically', 'significantely', 'reffresh'), incorrect word forms ('deattachment', 'benefical'), and awkward word choices like 'less anxiety about monday work'. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over less common vocabulary items. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and pay much closer attention to correct word formation, collocation, and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, such as in 'that led to people are spending less time' and 'Since they will have more time to enjoy and reffresh their mind without worrying about their work on monday', which lacks a main clause. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, article usage, and subject-verb agreement throughout the essay. These grammatical inaccuracies can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to use a wider mix of structures with greater accuracy and control over basic sentence mechanics.
