Student answer (Band 6.5)
People are of viewpoint that workers should be provided with more off-days, making the working week shorter. To some extent, I agree with this opinion. But employees must keep a balance between their well-being and laziness. In this essay, I will discuss my point of view with reasons and examples.
I totally agree that working days in a week should be cut short. Nowadays, office workload is too much for a person to bear. On top of that, there is not enough time to complete it during weekends. This causes one to compromise on his sleep. Such actions seem beneficial for the time being, but later can lead to long-term health problems including insomnia and fatigue. Because of this, one's health will start to deteriorate to the point that it will start affecting his quality of work. This can, at the end, lead to his job determination. Therefore, in order to avoid such scenarios, I believe the working days in a week should be reduced.
Along with shortening the weekdays, the weekends should comprise of three days only. According to my perspective, three off-days will be sufficient for a person to spend plenty of time with his family, complete his work from office, and take proper rest. Because of this, the oxytocin level of of the employees will increase. There will be a balance between life and work. Due to which they will enjoy both their work and life, instead of being burdenized by it. But one must be accountable to not waste these off-days in sleeping, leaving all the work at the last minute. Such irresponsibilty and laziness will create more chaos both at work and home.
Overall, I believe that weekends should be extended and weekdays should be shortened. This is for employee well-being and for them to enjoy their work; resulting in a perfect balance between reponsibility and enjoyment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position throughout the essay regarding whether the working week should be shorter and weekends longer. Your ideas are generally extended and supported, such as when you discuss the health implications of excessive workloads, including insomnia and fatigue. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise or under-develop certain arguments, particularly in the third paragraph where you mention the oxytocin level of employees and the risk of laziness without fully unpacking these points. To move towards a higher level, you would need to ensure that every supporting argument is explored with greater depth and analytical precision rather than introducing multiple ideas in rapid succession.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical organisation. You make use of paragraphing to separate your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, ensuring that each paragraph has a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, such as 'On top of that', 'Because of this', and 'Along with shortening the weekdays'. However, some aspects of cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the referencing and transitional links between sentences. For instance, starting a sentence with 'Due to which they will enjoy...' creates a fragmented structure that affects the flow. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, you should ensure that all cohesive ties link clauses smoothly and naturally without relying on abrupt phrasing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You display an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'deteriorate', 'accountable', and 'irresponsibility'. Your writing communicates your meaning clearly, and your spelling is generally accurate. Nevertheless, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that prevent you from reaching a higher band. For example, phrases like 'job determination' instead of 'job termination' or 'resignation', and 'burdenized' instead of 'burdened', show that your control of less common vocabulary is sometimes insecure. To improve your lexical score, focus on learning precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly according to standard English conventions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your essay, attempting various structures such as conditional and causative ideas. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of errors include awkward prepositional phrasing like 'comprise of three days only' (comprise does not take 'of' in this active sense) and minor article omissions or pluralisation slips, such as 'level of of the employees'. Your control of complex sentences is functional, but occasional awkwardness remains. To improve your grammatical range and accuracy, you should refine your control over complex clause structures and eliminate minor slips in preposition usage and verb patterns.
