Student answer (Band 5.5)
The mandatory hours at the workplace and the less weekends has been in debate since long ago. However, if the weekends will be escalated then it will affect the eco-system of the nation. Since, every coin has two sides lets dive into this topic and provide our agreement or disagreement on this topic.
First and foremost, the one side of coin states that the if there are mandatory hours for working at offices then that pattern should follow while providing holidays too. Especially, talking about labourers they should have short weekdays and prolonged weekends. Looking at the amount of hardwork they put in the strenious work that they carry out the entire six days of week and then mere two days for them to relaxation is detrimental. If employess have enough weekends they will opt for less leave from the institutions.
However, the other side of the coin points towards the economy of the nation being hampered by exceeding the weekend. Furthermore, disorentation will take place in upcoming years. A major drawback will be seen in the schools were students will be more carefree and less focused in their curriculum. Entire ecosystem will be hampered along with that multinational companies that has handsome amount of employees will demand more holidays and in our country there are enough public holidays which make sure that we enjoy our festivals so there is no need for extra longer weekend.
To recapitulate, the disagree to this statement to a large extent as it would create huge disturbamce in the employment sector along with the business institutions and the multinational companies that are functioning worldwide.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question by considering both the benefits of longer weekends and possible disadvantages, and your conclusion makes your position clear: you disagree “to a large extent.” The point that workers doing strenuous labour may need more rest is relevant, as is your concern about effects on businesses. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The claim that longer weekends would harm the national economy is asserted rather than explained, and the reference to students and schools is not clearly connected to the proposed change in the working week. Develop fewer points with specific reasoning or an example, and explain how a shorter working week would affect productivity, workers’ wellbeing, or employers. This would make your response more fully address the issue.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “First and foremost,” “However,” and “To recapitulate” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “one side of the coin”/“other side of the coin” framing, and the progression within the second body paragraph is difficult to follow as it moves from the economy to schools and then multinational companies. Some references, such as “that pattern,” are not fully clear. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain and support it before moving on; use linking expressions only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “mandatory hours,” “strenuous work,” “detrimental,” and “multinational companies.” These choices show an effort to discuss employment and economic effects beyond basic vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the intended meaning less clear: “weekends will be escalated,” “less weekends,” and “huge disturbance in the employment sector” are examples. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “disorentation” and “disturbamce.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe weekends as being “extended,” and refer to “fewer days off” or “a longer weekend,” matching the wording of the question.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “if the weekends will be escalated then it will affect…” and “Looking at the amount of hardwork they put in…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the argument difficult to read. Examples include “The mandatory hours … and the less weekends has been,” “the disagree to this statement,” and the sentence beginning “Entire ecosystem will be hampered,” which joins several ideas without clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause. Also check subject–verb agreement and use a comma rather than a full stop after introductory “Since” when it leads into a dependent clause.
