Student answer (Band 6.0)
The question of whether the working hours per week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend remains a subject of intense debate. While some contend that it is okay to have short weekend. I am of the firm conviction that long weekends encourgae workers working efficiently. This eesay will elucidate how work-life balance and higher productivity support this stance.
To commence with, one of the most compelling reasons for my viewpoint is that balanced work-life. This is largely becuase when employees have short working week they can spend time with their families and friends, which can subsequently lead to good relations in life. Furthermore, workers can enjoy their hobbies and do exercise in leisure time which is more beneficial in the long term. For instance, corporate employees clearly demonstrates how they relax and unwind themselves after exhausted week. Therefore, it is evident that long weekends motivate jobholder work more capably.
Moreover, higher productivity provides strong justifictaion for this viewpoint. This can be attributed to the fact that rested workers focus better and finish tasks with high energy. As a result, employee can be promoted for hard work, therby contributing to company growth. A clear illustration of this can be seen in multi-national companies where employees work hard with full potential after giving time to their hobbies, family and friends. Although opponents may argue that long weekends would be loss for companies. I believe this concern is less significant because traditional long working hours might be exhuasted for employees.
In conclusion, although it is sometimes claimed that companies or business may struggle to hire extra staff for missing hours, I firmly maintain that long weekends inspire employees work efficiently due to fact that work-life balnce and higher productivity in workplaces.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support a shorter working week and longer weekends, and you give two relevant reasons—better work-life balance and higher productivity. The response also acknowledges a counterargument about companies losing working hours, so it addresses the main parts of the question. However, some ideas are more fully stated than explained. For example, you say time with family leads to “good relations,” but do not show how this benefit might affect workers or employers. The productivity point is also asserted rather than supported with a specific example; the reference to multinational companies remains general. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a concrete example, and make the link between shorter hours and efficiency more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages of the argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and a few links between ideas are unclear. For instance, the claim that employees may be promoted follows the point about completing tasks energetically, but the connection is not explained. The counterargument is introduced with “Although,” yet the sentence is punctuated as a separate sentence, weakening the relationship between the concession and your response. Use linking phrases selectively and ensure each sentence clearly develops the point before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “work-life balance,” “productivity,” “unwind,” and “contributing to company growth.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, inaccurate spelling and awkward word combinations reduce precision: examples include “encourgae,” “eesay,” “justifictaion,” and “work more capably.” Phrases such as “balanced work-life” and “loss for companies” are also not natural in this context. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main position, but they make the argument less fluent and precise. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “maintain a healthy work-life balance” and “work more efficiently.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “when,” “which,” and “although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with sentence boundaries, agreement, and missing grammatical elements. For example, “While some contend that it is okay to have short weekend” is left as a fragment, and “corporate employees clearly demonstrates” has a subject–verb agreement error. In the conclusion, “inspire employees work efficiently” needs a grammatical structure such as “inspire employees to work efficiently.” Review articles and infinitive patterns, and check that subordinate clauses are joined to complete sentences. More accurate control of these structures would make your ideas clearer.
