Student answer (Band 4.0)

In the modern ere, many indivisual believe that the working week should be shorter and employees should have a longer weekend. I completely agree with this idea because it can improve people's mental health and increase their performance at work.

The main reason why i support a shorter working week is that it allows people to relax and spend more time with their families. Many employees have busy schedules and experience stress because of their professional responsibilities. If they

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a clear position in the opening: “I completely agree,” and give two relevant reasons—improved mental health and better performance at work. The paragraph also begins to explain how extra time could help workers relax and spend time with family. However, the response stops mid-sentence at “If they,” so neither reason is developed with explanation or an example, and the second reason is not discussed further. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To strengthen it, complete the argument, explain how shorter hours could improve performance, and support each point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introductory paragraph presents your position, followed by a body paragraph that starts to explain one reason. The link between the claim about mental health and the discussion of stress is understandable, and “because” helps show the relationship between your opinion and its reasons. However, the argument has no completed development or conclusion, and the final sentence breaks off at “If they,” which prevents the ideas from progressing. The second reason mentioned in the introduction is not connected to a supporting paragraph. Complete each paragraph around one main point, use clear links between explanation and example, and add a concluding sentence that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “working week,” “employees,” “mental health,” “professional responsibilities,” and “performance at work.” These choices make your main ideas clear, and “busy schedules” and “experience stress” show some ability to express related concepts rather than relying only on very basic words. However, the range is limited by the short response, and there are spelling errors in “ere” and “indivisual.” The phrase “improve people's mental health” is clear but broad; more precise wording could help explain the benefit. Proofread spelling carefully and build a wider set of terms for work-life balance, fatigue, productivity, and family time.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You show some control of sentence forms, including a complex sentence with “because” and a conditional structure beginning “If they…”. The opening sentence and “Many employees have busy schedules and experience stress” are straightforward and generally understandable. However, the conditional is left incomplete, so it does not form a complete sentence, and the response offers too little evidence of sustained control across a range of structures. The pronoun “i” should be capitalised as “I.” Develop complete sentences and check punctuation and capitalisation as you revise. You could also vary sentence patterns by adding a relative clause or a sentence explaining the result of workers having more time to rest.
