Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many people spend long hours at work and have little time for their parents. I strongly agree this working hours should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. This is because it can improve their health and help them spend more time with their families.

Firstly, shorter working hours can improve workers physical health and mental health. \when people work for many they feel tired and boring. As the result they no be able to do job properly.if they have more time , they can relax exercise and get enough sleep. For example, a person who works hours six ina day and may have more time to walk eat health food, and fresh feel the next morning. Therefore, shorter working hours can help people workers stay healthy and perform better work.

Secondly,a longer weekend allows workers spend more time their famililes. Nowadays, many people are busy with their jobs and cannot give their time children and parents. Extra days off can help them enjoy faimly activities and reduce stress. For instance, parents who have three day weekend can take their children to a park, visit their relatives or go on a short trip. This can make a family relationship stronger and help people feel happier. Moreover, well- rested workers may return to their jobs with more energyand mmotivation.

in conclusiopn, I completely agree that working hours should be reduced and weekend should be longer. These changes can improve workers health strenghth family relationships and help [eople have a better balance between work and personel life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and conclusion, and you give two relevant reasons: improved health and more time with family. The examples of exercising and parents taking children to a park help illustrate these points. However, the health explanation is less fully developed, and some wording makes the example difficult to follow, so the link between shorter hours and better work performance is not always clear. The response also falls short of the required 250 words: it contains 248 words, with the 10 words copied from the task prompt excluded. Develop one example or explanation further to meet the requirement and make your support more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “in conclusion” make the main stages easy to identify, and the family paragraph progresses from the problem of limited time to possible benefits. However, some connections within sentences are unclear, such as “As the result they no be able to do job properly,” and punctuation and spacing sometimes interrupt the flow. The health paragraph also moves quickly from tiredness to exercise and work performance. Use complete, clearly punctuated sentences and explain each cause-and-effect link more fully; this would make the progression smoother and less dependent on basic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “working hours,” “reduce stress,” “family activities,” and “work-life balance.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “tired and boring,” “fresh feel,” “health strenghth,” and “personel life”; “faimly” and “mmotivation” also show weak spelling control. Some phrases, such as “perform better work,” are not natural in this context. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for health, family life, and productivity, and proofread spelling and word forms so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including the conditional idea “If they have more time, they can relax…” and the relative clause “workers who have three day weekend.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but there are some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, plurals, and punctuation. For example, “I strongly agree this working hours should be shorter” needs a grammatical link and article adjustment, while “allows workers spend” is missing “to.” In “parents who have three day weekend,” the noun phrase needs an article and plural form. Several sentences also run together, as in “properly.if they have more time.” Practise accurate complex sentences and check sentence boundaries, agreement, and articles.
