Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that the working week should be shortened to give employees a longer weekend. I strongly agree with this view because shorter working weeks can improve people's quality of life and potentially increase their productivity.
To begin with, a shorter working week would allow employees to achieve a better work–life balance. Many people spend most of their weekdays at work, leaving them with little time to pursue personal interests or maintain relationships with their families. As a result, they may experience stress and feel that their lives revolve entirely around their jobs. For example, employees who finish work late every day may struggle to exercise regularly or spend quality time with their children. By giving workers an additional day off, employers could allow them to manage their personal responsibilities and enjoy more fulfilling lives.
Futhermore, reducing weekly working hours may improve employee have more higher productivity. Longer working time may cause people injuries, such as: mental exhuasted, physical symptoms and so on. This situation might take more time to finish a simple job than usual. For example, office worker who work overtime may struggling towards the end of the day. A longer weekend can provide a chance for them recover and take rest, nomarlly will benefit them more efficiency that return to work.
In conclusion, i strongly support shorter working week because this will give employee more time to enjoy their personal life and more energetic in productivity. Provided that workloads are managed effectively, a longer weekend could benefit both workers and employers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion, and you address both benefits named in your thesis: improved work–life balance and potentially higher productivity. The first body paragraph develops the personal-life benefit with relevant examples about exercise and time with children. The productivity argument is also relevant, but its explanation is less clear: the link between longer hours, health effects and taking more time to complete work needs to be expressed and supported more fully. The conclusion appropriately restates your view and adds the useful qualification that workloads must be managed. This is a solid response to the task; to strengthen it further, develop the second reason as fully and precisely as the first, perhaps by explaining how rested employees can work more efficiently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from personal well-being to productivity is logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The first body paragraph also connects its example clearly to the main point. However, cohesion becomes less secure in the second body paragraph, where the sequence from health effects to slower work and then recovery is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases feel formulaic, and the final sentence of that paragraph does not clearly show how its ideas relate. Clarify the cause-and-effect links and use pronouns or transitions with precise references to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work–life balance,” “personal responsibilities,” “productivity,” and “fulfilling lives.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the first body paragraph shows some range beyond basic wording. However, the second body paragraph contains noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems that sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “employee have more higher productivity,” “mental exhuasted,” and “more efficiency.” There are also spelling errors such as “Futhermore” and “nomarlly.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding more complex words: for example, say that long hours can cause mental exhaustion and that rest can help employees work more efficiently. Proofreading would also improve control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a clear conditional structure in “Provided that workloads are managed effectively” and a relative clause in “employees who finish work late every day.” Most of the first body paragraph is grammatically controlled, so the argument remains easy to follow there. Some errors in the second body paragraph, however, affect clarity: “reducing weekly working hours may improve employee have more higher productivity” has an incomplete, incorrectly formed structure, while “office worker who work overtime may struggling” has problems with number and verb forms. The conclusion also needs articles and agreement in “shorter working week” and “give employee.” Practise building accurate clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and verb patterns.
