Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is frequently argued that the traditional working week should be reduced, allowing employees to enjoy longer weekend, while these are different views on this issue. I strongly agree with these opinion, these essay will discuss main reasons of my viewpoint.
The first and the most important reason for my opinion is that better work life balance. This is because employee give proper time in their house or in family, lesser stress or burnout, which ultimately lead to better health life. As a result people manage their personal hobbies and different commitment to balance their personal life.
therefore, it is important to shorter working week eventually lead to happy life.
Another, significant reason is that loss of business revenue and productivity, in other words like many industries or healthcare workers they work 24/7 or 5 to 6 days in a week, if staff do less hours of work this can lead to output threshold and increase in number of cost. Particularly in hospital set-up. For instance increased work pressure if we reduce working week because 5 to 6 days shifted to 4 working days eventually work load increases.
Hence, this further support my view. I strongly agree with these opinion if we reduced working week it can lead to increase productivity according to different research people who work less they increase their focus and work more efficiently.
Conclusion, I frequently agree with these opinion its good to reduced working week and worker should have a longer period to maintain their personal life, but another perspective it not good for health care workers if doctor is not available 24/7 in emergency eventually it impact so many lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is stated clearly at the start: “I strongly agree,” and you give relevant reasons concerning work–life balance, stress, and productivity. You also recognise a counterpoint about healthcare staffing, which shows awareness that shorter weeks may affect some sectors differently. However, the argument is only partly developed: the first reason is asserted rather than supported with a specific example, while the discussion of business revenue and healthcare shifts is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain how it relates to your overall agreement. The conclusion also introduces a qualification that is not fully reconciled with your position. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation and a relevant example, and make your final position consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposts such as “The first,” “Another,” and “For instance” indicate an attempt to organise ideas. However, progression is uneven: the second body paragraph moves between revenue, productivity, hospital staffing, and workload without clearly connecting these points. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, including “Hence, this further support my view,” and “therefore” begins a sentence that does not clearly follow from the preceding idea. Referencing is also unclear in phrases such as “these opinion.” Give each paragraph one central point, arrange explanation and example in a clear sequence, and use linking expressions only when their logical relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “work life balance,” “burnout,” “productivity,” and “work pressure,” which helps communicate the subject of the essay. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “output threshold” and “business revenue,” but some choices are inaccurate or unclear in context. Phrases such as “better health life,” “in their house or in family,” and “longer period” do not express the intended meaning naturally, and repeated use of “opinion” and “work” limits variety. Build a more precise range of collocations for employment and wellbeing, and check that each phrase conveys the intended idea clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, for example using “This is because” and “if” clauses to explain consequences. However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “I strongly agree with these opinion,” “employee give,” and “this further support,” where agreement or number is incorrect. Several sentences are incomplete or joined awkwardly, such as “The first and the most important reason for my opinion is that better work life balance” and the opening sentence, which combines contrasting ideas without a clear structure. Work on complete sentence patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation; then practise combining clauses while keeping each sentence’s meaning clear.
