Student answer (Band 6.0)

Regular weekends are usually not enough for workers. As a result, working days per week should be shorter and have longer weekend. In this essay, I will explain why I strongly agree with reducing the working days for people as it results in health beneifits and improve work effiency.

One main reason is less working days means employees stay healtheir and fit. This is beacuse often workers find it really hard to balance both work and life resulting in poor mental and physical health. For instance, employees bearly have time to regulary attend gym or to particse part in any activites ( like..,mountain climbing, sports and other hobbies) casuing stress and unhealthy life style. Where as, heaving more days off can help people maintain balance and look out for their health by exercising and activitly taking part in other sports or hobbies. Therefore, working less days per week can help improve health benefits in employees.

In addition, Employees having more days to rest during weekend directly improves effiency in work. This is because working constanly having no proper breaks leads to less productivity and poor work quality. For example, an average employee has two days off per week which is not enough to recover from five days of work resulting in feeling tired. In contract, having proper time to rest and take mind office work possibly leads to working better instanly as the brain is well rested. Hence, having to work longer in stress and lot of work can be challenging but longer weeknd can help with improve effiency.

In conclution, I believe that having longer weekend for workers help balance life and work because heavy workload and shorter weekend has negative consequences for both health and work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons—better health and improved work efficiency—and support them with examples such as having time to exercise and feeling tired after five days of work. This addresses the task well. However, some points are more fully explained than others: the health paragraph gives several activities, while the efficiency argument relies mainly on the general claim that rest improves work quality. The example about an average employee having two days off also describes the current arrangement rather than showing how a shorter week would change outcomes. Develop this comparison more specifically, perhaps by explaining how a four-day week could affect productivity or workplace results.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “In addition,” and “Therefore” help show the relationship between claims and examples. This gives the response a coherent progression. At times, however, cohesion feels mechanical or the connection between sentences is unclear. For example, “In contract” does not accurately signal the intended contrast, and the final sentence of the second body paragraph repeats the point about longer weekends without adding a clear step in the argument. Some references, such as “this” in “This is because,” could also identify the idea more precisely. Use transitions selectively and make each sentence build directly on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “balance,” “mental and physical health,” “productivity,” and “work quality.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “effiency,” “beacuse,” “heavier workload,” and “improve health benefits” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “take mind office work” and “activitly taking part.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make the writing less fluent and occasionally require interpretation. Build a more accurate set of collocations for work and wellbeing, and proofread spelling carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “take a break from work” and “support employees’ health.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “resulting in,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “working days per week should be shorter and have longer weekend” does not clearly attach both ideas to the same subject; “less working days means” has a plural subject with a singular verb; and “having longer weekend for workers help” has a similar agreement problem. The sentence beginning “This is because working constantly having no proper breaks” is also structurally incomplete. To improve, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and revise complex sentences so each has a clear subject and finite verb.
