Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that employeers should have longer weekend and shorter working week. I completely agree with this statement because it improves productivity and has postive impact on economy of the country.

One of the main reasons why i agree with this view is that it enhances the overall performance of the workers. In today's mordern world, many people are sticked with demanding jobs which creates additional pressure compared to the ordinary market jobs. This can result in the decline in the performance of the employee in longer terms. Gen-z generation especially emphasis more on smart work then hard work.

With the fewer working days in a week employees can stay more productive and more focued on their tasks. This leads to giving merit to a company over the longer period of time. For instance, In China, many companies has already shorten the working days which is quite helping in optimizing the performance of employees.

Another important reason for this opinion is that people might spend money on travel destinations over the weekends which can boost the economy of the country. Most peodple can not even plan trips during the weekend as 3-4 days are required for memorable trip. If people attain the longer weekend then they can travel domestically easily and will spend money on transportation, food and accomdomation. Consequently, this will lead to overall economic growth of the country.

In conclusion, I completely agree with this view of having longer weekend and shorter working days because it optimize the performance of employee moreover places a positive impact on the economic growth of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion, and you give two relevant reasons: shorter working weeks may improve employee performance, and longer weekends may encourage domestic travel and spending. You also explain each reason and include an example about companies in China, so the response addresses the task and supports its main ideas. However, some support is broad rather than fully convincing: the claim about Gen Z preferring smart work is not clearly connected to the proposed policy, and the China example would be stronger with a specific detail or explanation of the change. Develop these points more precisely and show how the benefits apply to workers and employers generally.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and linking expressions such as “One of the main reasons,” “For instance,” and “Consequently” help readers follow the argument. To make the progression more consistently smooth, clarify the connection between some claims. For example, the reference to Gen Z appears abruptly after the point about demanding jobs, and the China example is not fully explained. The conclusion also joins two ideas with “moreover” without clear punctuation. Use transitions to show the precise relationship between claims, rather than relying mainly on familiar signposting phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to work and the economy, including “overall performance,” “demanding jobs,” “domestically,” and “economic growth.” These choices communicate your main ideas, but the range and control are uneven, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reduce precision. Examples include “employeers,” “postive,” “mordern,” and “accomdomation”; “sticked with demanding jobs” and “giving merit to a company” are also unnatural combinations. Aim to learn vocabulary in collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for productivity, employee wellbeing, and tourism spending would help you express the argument flexibly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “jobs which creates additional pressure” and a conditional structure beginning “If people attain the longer weekend.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the argument is not seriously obscured. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “many companies has already shorten,” the subject and verb do not agree and the verb form is incorrect; “people are sticked” also has an incorrect verb construction. There are article and number issues in phrases such as “longer weekend” and “the performance of employee.” Check agreement, verb forms, and singular/plural nouns, and use sentence punctuation to separate the ideas in the final sentence.
