Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, it is often argued that weekend should be longer as compared to the past and weekdays should be shorter. I, personally believe that structure of the week should remain same because argued belief can make people less produtive.
To begin with, exerting short weekdays can make folks unserious because they will be far from their work. As a result, adapting unprecedented lifestyles and diminished performances for individuals could become common. For instance, they might stay at home on holidays and this will change their daily routine causing them to forget their pivotal task. Additionally, this could also affect growing children because if they will get more off from the institutions in childhood, their learning becomes slow, therefore this will hinder the situation for them in future. Moreover, private schools and industries will face a substantial loss if they remain close for more days, consequently leading to low economy of a country. Furthermore, short weekdays can cause unemployment because there are few people who get remuneration on daily base. Due to this they would not be able to afford facilities for their families hence they then might find other ways to fulfill their needs such as burglaries.
On the other side of the edge, people who have an enormous workload can acquire benefits from this because they can get some time to rest and some individuals can pay attention to their houses as they do not have time in weekdays. To illustrate, house maintenance work, grocery and shopping.
To conclude, I would like to argue that minimising workdays could negatively impact the society, however, this could be advantageous for upper class society but unfortunately, majority of our people are not one of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you oppose shortening the working week, and you address both possible disadvantages and a benefit for workers with heavy workloads. The points about children’s learning, business losses and daily-paid workers are relevant, but several are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between extra days off and people forgetting their “pivotal task” is unclear, and the claim that shorter weeks could lead to burglaries needs more careful reasoning or evidence. The opposing benefit—time for rest and household responsibilities—is acknowledged, but only briefly illustrated. To strengthen the response, develop fewer points with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example, while keeping your position consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a main paragraph opposing shorter weekdays, a paragraph acknowledging a benefit, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing is generally understandable, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Additionally” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. However, the first body paragraph contains many separate claims, so the progression becomes crowded and some links are difficult to follow. Phrases such as “On the other side of the edge” are not natural transitions, and “this” in several sentences does not clearly identify the idea being referred to. Group related points into focused paragraphs and use more precise referencing and transitions to make the argument flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “substantial loss,” “remuneration,” “diminished performances” and “unprecedented lifestyles.” This shows an effort to use less common language, but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural in context, which reduces precision. For instance, “exerting short weekdays” does not express the idea of reducing working days, while “low economy” and “daily base” are not natural collocations. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “produtivity.” Aim for clear, accurate phrasing rather than choosing elaborate expressions when a simpler one is more natural. Learning collocations related to work schedules, productivity and household responsibilities would help make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if they will get more off from the institutions” and a concluding contrast introduced by “however.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “weekend should be longer” needs an article or plural form, and “I, personally believe” has incorrect punctuation. In “if they will get more off,” the verb form after “if” is not appropriate; “if they get more time off” would be clearer. Some sentences also combine several clauses without clear punctuation, particularly the sentence about children’s learning. Review articles, conditional forms, agreement and sentence boundaries.
