Student answer (Band 5.5)

The weekdays should be shorter and the employees should have a long weekends in an entire week. In this essay i will discuss whether i am agree or not with presentiing my own opinions.

To begin with, employees should have a longer weekend because mostly people have a long of pressures and have their personal issues in wich in their homes and offices issue can be included, because of those problems they are exhausted both mentally and physically so if there will be longer holidays then they will have a great time for their mental and physical refreshments. They will plan a tour with their families or friends to go outside from homes and enjoy their time, this will make a positive impact and they will be active to their daily activities. For instance, when i was in Dubai in 2024, i used to go out with my friends on weekends and then we all were really be active for our respinsibilities during our jobs.

On the other hand, if there will be longer with weekends, i think it will affect people's lives because if offices will have only 3 or 4 working days in a week, and then the residents have some task in offices, they will not be able to manage their times because of imbalance working days of other people in the country. For example, in Europe there is country name Finland where there is less working days in a week, people there are not able to go to offices and complete their tasks because if shortage of time.

In conclusion, longer weekends will have a positive impact on our lives but in response on the working days the working hours should be extended so that people can come until late night and do their necessary tasks so that everyone can be satisfied with the rules and will be happy in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by presenting benefits of longer weekends and a concern about reduced access to offices, then give a concluding position that supports longer weekends alongside extended working hours. However, your position is not fully consistent: the introduction says you will discuss whether you agree, while the conclusion proposes a compromise without clearly stating how strongly you agree. The benefits of rest and family activities are relevant, but the Dubai example mainly reports that you felt active at work and could explain the link more clearly. The Finland example is also difficult to assess because it makes a broad claim without evidence or detail. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and make your position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into long sentences, and links between claims are not always clear. For example, the move from personal pressures to taking a tour and then to being active at work needs more explicit explanation. The second body paragraph also shifts from shorter working weeks to residents’ difficulty completing office tasks without clarifying the connection. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph develop one central point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mentally and physically,” “positive impact,” “imbalance” and “responsibilities.” These choices show an attempt to discuss effects on workers and society. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. Examples include “a long of pressures,” “mental and physical refreshments,” “go outside from homes” and “longer with weekends.” There are also spelling errors such as “presentiing” and “respinsibilities.” Aim for more precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing general or awkward expressions with topic-specific language will make your argument easier to understand and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if there will be longer holidays” and clauses beginning with “because.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. For example, “i am agree” has an incorrect verb form, while “if offices will have only 3 or 4 working days” uses an unsuitable conditional construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “there is country name Finland.” Practise accurate present and conditional forms, and divide long sentences into shorter units. Check capitalisation and punctuation as part of proofreading.
