Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that the working hours of employees should be minimized with the expansion of weekly holidays. I strongly disagree with this view point as it can bring serious consequences due to several compelling reasons.
Although reduced working days per week allows more time to relax at home or with friends and involve in recreational activities as well which could benefit overall mental well-being of individuals. Moreover. longer weekends cam compel people to spend quality time with their family and relatives. Additionally, there is relatively greater chance of attending family gatherings or visiting a friend's place during extended weekend holidays.
On the contrary, this trend cannot be taken into account due to its undeniable demerits. Firstly, prolonged holidays in a week can specifically effect bussinesses who entirely depend on man-power. Without man-force, least number of products will be manufactured during shorter working days, hence, the sale and purchase for such products will also be lower which will further generate the minimal revenue. This will result in overall degradation of economy. Secondly, workers getting more leisure time throughout the week will certainly become physically lethargic as they will become used to working less. At some point this practice will make them work-shikers. Lastly, fewer office days means reduced income as well. This would be a matter of great concern for the workers with low earning background as it will be difficult for them to pay wages and maintain a standard of living.
In conclusion, to restrain form financial instabilty, economy disruption and physical weakness, it is crucial for workers to work the same five times a week rather then appealing for longer holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction, where you state that you “strongly disagree,” and the conclusion returns to this view. You address the main issue with relevant reasons: reduced production and revenue, possible effects on workers’ activity levels, and lower income. This covers the task well, while the acknowledgement of benefits such as family time shows some balance. However, several points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the link between shorter working weeks and “overall degradation of economy” needs a more specific explanation or example, and the claim that workers would become lethargic is not supported. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph acknowledging benefits, a paragraph presenting your objections, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Lastly” help readers follow the list of arguments. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the benefits paragraph begins with “Although” but does not complete the contrast in a grammatically clear way. The transition “On the contrary” also suggests a sharper opposition than the argument requires. Some links between claims are abrupt, particularly the move from reduced production to economic decline. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make the relationship between each claim explicit; clearer topic sentences and more deliberate paragraph development would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “mental well-being,” “revenue,” “leisure time,” and “standard of living.” These choices show an effort to discuss both economic and personal consequences. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the argument harder to interpret. Examples include “expansion of weekly holidays,” “man-power,” “work-shikers,” and “restrain form financial instabilty.” Some phrases are also unnecessarily elaborate, such as “sale and purchase for such products.” Aim for more natural, precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe a “shorter working week,” “staff-dependent businesses,” and “economic instability” rather than relying on awkward or unclear combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, including a conditional idea in “Without man-force, least number of products will be manufactured” and a relative clause in “workers with low earning background as it will be difficult for them…”. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or faulty. The opening of the benefits paragraph, “Although reduced working days per week allows…,” is a dependent clause without a main clause, and “Moreover.” incorrectly separates a transition from the sentence that follows. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “days per week allows” and “This would be a matter… as it will be difficult.” Review clause structure, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each has a complete and logically connected main clause.
