Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays people are too much busy in their day-to-day hectic life, they are not able to make a worklife balance. There should be lesser working weeks and longer weekends. I agree that working hours are supposed to be reduced and made minimal.

Firstly, there should be a balance between work life and personal life. The working sectors are so much toxic that barely employee are able to get time for their family. Due to such situation the harmony comes in between the family.

Moreover the another reason is that with a more longer weekend the employee would be able to follow their hobbies and focus to learn new skills which will help them to stay employed in this dynamic environment. with such positive attitude employees will be motivated to work and helping to attain more achievements.

Perhaps the strongest reason is that just a like Japan they have more healthy working condition where they have fixed working hours with no over time. In most of the countries the seniors ask u to pay on your weekends too. overall there is supposed to be fixed working hours with lesser pressure and giving time to focus on goals,

In conclusion with reducing the working hours will help the employeed to focus on their goals and polishing their skills, it would impact the productivity of the organisation. For example Japan have a well organised heirarchy with no discrimination and valid holiday allotment motivating employees to work. Lesser the work more the output with milestones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that working hours should be reduced, and the response gives relevant reasons involving family life, hobbies and skills, and employee motivation. The conclusion also links shorter hours with organisational productivity. This covers the task well, and the Japan comparison shows an attempt to support your view with an example. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that workplaces are “toxic” and that Japan has healthier conditions is not substantiated, and the relationship between longer weekends and improved productivity needs clearer reasoning. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example and make the Japan comparison more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate supporting points and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad progression. However, connections between some ideas are unclear or mechanical. For example, “Due to such situation the harmony comes in between the family” does not clearly explain the intended consequence, while the paragraph beginning “Perhaps the strongest reason” moves from Japan’s working conditions to weekend work and then to general goals without a clear link. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than bringing the argument together. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its reason, and ensure pronouns and references identify their subjects.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work-life balance,” “dynamic environment,” “motivated,” and “productivity.” These choices show an attempt to discuss workplace issues beyond very basic terms. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “too much busy,” “lesser working weeks,” “focus to learn,” and “attain more achievements.” There are also informal or imprecise expressions such as “ask u” and “pay on your weekends.” Aim for natural combinations and a more formal register, and check spelling and word forms such as “employeed” and “heirarchy.” More precise vocabulary would make your reasons clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “that” and “where,” and you use a range of sentence openings. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the argument hard to understand. For example, “barely employee are able” has an agreement and number problem, while “with reducing the working hours will help” does not form a complete grammatical structure. The sentence beginning “Due to such situation” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its parts. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “with such positive attitude.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and punctuation when editing.
