Student answer (Band 6.0)
The demand of employees to constrict the working week in order to increse the weekend has been a debate among people. Although, reducing working days bring head ache for the company, I agree with the idea of longer weekend because of the improved work-life balance it offers.
One of the major benefits of longer weekend is the improved mental well-being of the workers. Employees are humans who needs to have a balance between work and life. In case of longer weekends, it allows the employee to recover from the stress that he had during the work. Moreover, increase in holidays enable the worker to spend more time with their family, resulting in enhanced mental state. For example, a man away from his family and working for them will get to spend time with them if the weekend is expanded. As a result, longer weekend promotes quality of life among employees.
Shorter work days excites people, helping them to achieve higher productivity during working hours. The thought of having shorter working days among minds of employee will make the work interesting, thereby increasing efficiency. Similarly, it prevents employee from doing error as the work becomes interesting. Consequently, shorter working days help in achieving the best out of employees.
In conclusion, there are few drawbacks in expanding holidays such as decreased output. They can be addressed by increasing the working hours in a day and I firmly agree with the plan of having longer weekend as it brings positive impact in the life of employees such as improved mental health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree with a longer weekend because it can improve work–life balance, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons about mental well-being, family time and productivity, with an example of a worker separated from his family. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not developed equally. The productivity paragraph shifts to “shorter work days,” which is not the same as a shorter working week, and the claim that shorter days prevent errors needs explanation or evidence. The suggestion to increase daily hours also needs to be reconciled with your argument for better well-being. Develop these links and support each main point more specifically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from well-being to productivity, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Similarly” and “Consequently” help show relationships. This gives the essay an overall coherent arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. In particular, the second body paragraph begins with “Shorter work days,” although the task concerns a shorter working week, so the shift weakens progression. “In case of longer weekends, it allows…” also has an unclear reference, and the conclusion’s proposal to increase daily hours is introduced without being developed earlier. Make references explicit and ensure each paragraph advances the same central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “work-life balance,” “mental well-being,” “productivity” and “efficiency,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “enhanced mental state” and “quality of life.” However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the language less natural: “constrict the working week,” “increse the weekend,” “bring head ache,” and “prevents employee from doing error.” Some key terms are also repeated, particularly “longer weekend” and “employees.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vary repeated wording where possible. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and fluency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although,” “because” and “thereby,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction persist. For example, “reducing working days bring” should have a singular verb, while “Employees are humans who needs” has a plural subject followed by a singular verb. In “In case of longer weekends, it allows the employee…,” the opening phrase does not connect clearly to the subject. There are also article and number issues in “the improved mental well-being” and “prevents employee.” Review subject–verb agreement and make sure introductory phrases have a clear grammatical subject; greater accuracy across these structures would strengthen the response.
