Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many people believe that employees should have shorter working week with longer weekend, I completely agree with this viewpoint because this will help people to spend more times with family members and increase productivity.

Longer weekend is particularly fruitful for creating or enhancing bonds among family members. When week days are shorter workers hardly get time to spend time with family members, which creates distance affecting the relationships of families. If longer weekend is provided then employees may be able to unwind and relax, while taking time to socialize with other people as well as families. As a result, this will create a sense of belonging in the society and foster mental well-being. For example, corporate workers often live depressed life because of shorter holidays and strict rules and regulations in office settings.

Additionaly, shorter week week does not mean less productivity, rather this approach will faciliate concentraton during working hours. When employees are to work in shorter office time period, out of responsibility they will fully emerged to complete their task with dedication. This will also help them to reach their full potential as they have had suffice holidays to recover from the previous week work load. This practice also work as a motivation for the emloyees that the higher authorities have taken into consideration about their health and social life, and it is also their responsibility to pay back in whatever ways possible. Subsequently, it improves the overall economy of a business.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that shorter working week and longer weekend promotes socializing while creating strong bonds with families and growth of business by increasing productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both benefits in the prompt’s context: more time for family and social relationships, and the possibility of maintaining or improving productivity. The paragraphs extend these ideas with explanations, such as workers having time to recover and feeling motivated when employers consider their well-being. The corporate-worker example is relevant, although it is asserted rather than illustrated with a specific situation or evidence. Some claims, particularly that shorter hours will improve concentration and “the overall economy of a business,” are broad and would benefit from clearer explanation of how the effects occur. More precise support would make the argument more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from family well-being to productivity is logical, and linking expressions such as “As a result,” “For example,” and “Subsequently” help show relationships between ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical or are not fully clear. For instance, “Subsequently” introduces the claim about business performance without explaining the steps between employee motivation and economic growth. The first body paragraph also moves from family relationships to socializing and then to depressed corporate workers, so a more explicit link would improve flow. Use referencing and transitions selectively, ensuring each one clarifies the relationship between claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “foster mental well-being,” “reach their full potential,” and “overall economy.” These phrases help communicate ideas about work, family, and motivation. You also attempt less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “fruitful for creating bonds,” “live depressed life,” and “fully emerged to complete their task.” Spelling errors—including “Additionaly,” “faciliate,” “concentraton,” and “emloyees”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe workers as having “more time to strengthen family relationships” rather than using an imprecise phrase. Your meaning remains understandable, but more consistent word choice would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If longer weekend is provided then employees may be able to unwind” and subordinate clauses beginning with “because” and “while.” These allow you to explain causes and consequences, and the main ideas are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “should have shorter working week” needs an article, and “When week days are shorter workers hardly get time” has an unclear time reference and needs punctuation after the introductory clause. In “this practice also work,” the subject and verb do not agree; “employees have had suffice holidays” also has an incorrect verb form. Review articles, agreement, and sentence punctuation, while continuing to use varied structures.
