Student answer (Band 6.0)

For working hours, few things are more important than the impact of a shorter working week and long weekend. In many developed or developing countries, a substantial amount of attention is given to longer weekend, as it often requires different resources such as sufficient workers and funding, enough productions.Nowadays many would agree that modern society is moving beyond its traditional boundaries, and shorter working hours and longer weekend are becoming increasingly important for people.Nevertheless, I strongly agree with this statement.

Naturally, shorter working hours and longer weekend, in the form of stress free work, is considerd highly importent for working hours, as it creates valuable facilities for improving mental health, oppoutunity to spend more time with family, reduce transportation burden. Moreover, it demonstrates remarkable benefit for the people, as it influences and improves many important ares of society. If this is adopted by every organization alike many people can benefit significantly. For instance, when people get shorter working hours and longer weekend, they can spend quality time with their family which improve relationship and bonding between family members.Furthermore, longer weekend can help to reduce transportation difficulties like stress, thats help to improve mental and physical conditions.

Under certain circumstances, however, organizations may hesitate to support shorter working hours and longer weekend because of several reasons such as economic losses, less productivity, work pressure.Whlie shorter working hours and longer weekend are widely accepted in many major cities and developed areas, people from poorer or developing regions may face difficulties because of lack of money, limited resources and access. Therefore, the idea of shorter working hours and longer weekend does not seem always attractive or practical to everyone.

However, from my perspective, if the goals of stress free work is show that shorter working hours and longer weekend are not merely an option but a necessity, then the people may choose to accept a balance approach. It is the responsibilty of organization to evaluate the role of short working hours and longer weekend and decide whether it will bring more benefit than harm. Therefore, I believe that shorter working hours and longer weekend are beneficial for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that workers should have shorter hours and longer weekends, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, especially more time with family and reduced commuting stress, and you acknowledge possible economic and productivity concerns. This covers the task well, with some elements of a more fully developed response. However, the benefits are asserted more than explained, and the example about family relationships remains general. The discussion of employers’ concerns is also brief and is not weighed against your position in detail. To strengthen the response, explain how shorter weeks could affect productivity or costs, then show why the benefits outweigh those drawbacks, using a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on possible objections, and a concluding position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” “Under certain circumstances,” and “However” help signal the direction of the argument. At times, though, cohesion feels mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the opening moves from the resources needed for longer weekends to modern society’s changing boundaries without explaining the connection. The final paragraph also repeats the main claim rather than clearly resolving the earlier economic concerns. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, and connect examples directly to the claim they support; clearer referencing would also reduce repetition of “shorter working hours and longer weekend.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “mental health,” “transportation burden,” “productivity,” “economic losses,” and “limited resources.” This gives you an adequate range for discussing the issue, and you attempt more formal expressions such as “under certain circumstances.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which makes some sentences less natural: “enough productions,” “valuable facilities for improving mental health,” and “stress free work” do not express the intended ideas precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “importent,” “oppoutunity,” “Whlie,” and “responsibilty.” Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated phrases with accurate alternatives will make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional clauses (“If this is adopted by every organization…”) and a concession introduced by “although” or “however.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “which improve relationship” has a subject–verb agreement problem and needs a plural or article adjustment, while “shorter working hours and longer weekend … is” does not agree with its compound subject. The sentence beginning “if the goals of stress free work is show” is also difficult to follow because its clause structure and verb forms are faulty. Punctuation and spacing after full stops are inconsistent. Practise checking agreement, articles, and complete clause structure, then proofread sentence boundaries.
