Student answer (Band 6.0)
The working days of the week should be reduced in order to allow employees to have more days off. I completely agree with the idea of longer weekends as people need more time to relax in order to perform well. Lesser working days will allow individuals to focus on themselves specially their health and spend some more time to do what they actually enjoy rather then just working to survive
In concurrent world, jobs have become more demanding either mentally or physically. Working such jobs for more days with less break days will exhaust the employees and also affect their health. People with tough jobs often neglect their health in order to cope with routine work. For instance if an individual works a 9 hours shift and is commuting from a long distance to work then he is more likely to spend the two days off sleeping, resulting in a disturbed sleeping schedule. In order to keep check of his health and consider more about his life there must be less working days and a longer weekend.
People working 9 to 5 shifts are stuck in a loop of work, eat and sleep . on shorter weekends, People hardly manage chores or or personal tasks that require attention. Thus, leaving no time for a mind relaxing hobby or enjoyment activity. As for example a corporate person employed in city, who enjoys mountains or peacful places away from the noises of city would require atleast 4 days to be able to manage a back and forth trip. Due to shorter weekends, workers are unable to fulfil their mind soothing desires. Therefore, longer weekends would be helpful.
In conclusion, People need to be able to work with a clear mind and good health. both require longer weekends so

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you completely support a shorter working week and longer weekends. You address relevant reasons, especially recovery from demanding work and having time for personal interests, and the examples of commuting and travelling to the mountains help illustrate these points. This meets the task well. However, some ideas are asserted more than fully explained: for example, the link between longer weekends and better health could be developed with a clearer explanation of how additional rest changes workers’ wellbeing or performance. The conclusion also begins to summarise your view but ends abruptly, so it does not fully reinforce the argument. More balanced development and a complete ending would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct reasons, and a concluding attempt. The progression from health and fatigue to leisure and personal activities is logical, and connectors such as “For instance,” “Thus,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. The second body paragraph moves from chores to hobbies and then to a mountain trip without fully explaining the links, while “As for example” is an awkward transition. Some references, such as “both” in the conclusion, are unclear, and the final sentence is incomplete. Use clearer links between each claim and its example, and finish with a complete summary of your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “demanding,” “commuting,” “neglect their health,” and “personal tasks.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “mind soothing desires.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “concurrent world” does not naturally mean the modern world, “Lesser working days” is unsuitable here, and “keep check of his health” is not idiomatic. Spelling and word-form errors, including “peacful” and “atleast,” also reduce control. Aim for natural, precise phrases rather than unusual combinations, and proofread spelling. This would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional reasoning (“if an individual works… then he is more likely to…”) and clauses explaining consequences. The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences difficult to follow. For example, the opening contains a run-on sentence, and “People working 9 to 5 shifts are stuck in a loop of work, eat and sleep” has an inconsistent list structure. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “both require longer weekends so,” which is incomplete. Improve control by separating long ideas into complete sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and using consistent parallel forms in lists.
