Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that the working week should be shorter and employees should have longer weekend . I strongly agree with this trend because it helps workers to stay relax and improve efficiency.
To commence with, shorter working week may help employees to stay relax and in reducing working stress . To exaplain it , if the employee work less days in a week and have longer weekend they can stay relax and spend time with their family which helps them to stay more focused while working and improve efficiency . For example the worker who works only 4 days in a week will get chance to spend time with family Which may reduce stess . secondly, shorter working week may improve efficiency of employees, because they may work more hardly to achieve the companies goal in shorter period. They will feel more encouraged and work effectively. Therefore,it may increase companies turnover.
The other reason for shorter working week is that employee can also focus on their personal life. They can manage their day to day life easily without any stress . Employee can spend time with family , friends and loved ones Moreover, they can manage their expenses , budget, and make records in free days . for example a person can manage their financial condition and make plans for spending .
Additionally, The more they work less, the more they may stay healthy because working less days in a week may reduce stress, anxiety, depression Therefore, the mental health of employees will stay balanced .
In conclusion, I strongly agree with this view because it improve efficiency of employee, reduce stress ,balcned life and manage personal life while working.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and maintained in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons about reduced stress, improved efficiency, and having more time for personal and family responsibilities, with examples such as a four-day working week. This addresses the question and shows the beginnings of a well-supported argument. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the claim that employees will “work more hardly” and increase company turnover needs a clearer link between shorter hours and better results. The discussion of managing expenses and making records is also less directly connected to the central argument. Develop these ideas with specific, realistic examples and explain their consequences to make the support more consistently convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from wellbeing and efficiency to personal life and health, and signposts such as “To commence with,” “The other reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “Therefore” and “Moreover,” and some links between claims are not fully clear. For example, the move from managing a budget to the broader claim about mental health feels abrupt. Several sentences also run together because punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Use fewer formulaic transitions, connect each example explicitly to its paragraph’s main point, and ensure each sentence boundary is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “working stress,” “efficiency,” “personal life,” and “mental health.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural. Phrases such as “stay relax,” “work more hardly,” and “companies turnover” are not idiomatic, while “stess,” “exaplain,” and “balcned” show spelling errors. Repetition of “shorter working week,” “employee,” and “manage” also restricts flexibility. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing work and wellbeing, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “if the employee work less days … they can stay relax” and “because working less days … may reduce stress.” This shows an effort to vary sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in “the employee work” and “it improve efficiency”; articles and plurals are also unreliable, as in “longer weekend” and “less days.” Some sentences contain several clauses without clear punctuation, which makes the relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and sentence boundaries. Aim to produce accurate shorter sentences before combining them into more complex structures.
