Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that there should be less working days and more free days in a week for workers. I support this idea because a shorter working week and a longer weekend may result in improved health and relationships of worker. This strategy can also be proved beneficial for the profit of employeers.
First of all, many employees are more vulnerable to physical and mental issues due to excessive workload. They also donot get enough time to take care of their health because they have few free days which are usually spent on other necessary duties regarding home and family members. If the workers are provided with less working days, they can relax at home and can also participate in other healthy activities such as gym, cycling and many other sports-related acticities. Moreover, in extended weekend, people can spend quality time with their loved ones and they can also give time to their hobbies which ultimately results in better mental health and better human relationships.
Furthermore, less working days and more free days are not a matter of loss for companies and industries because workers and employees with better health can be more productive. For example, an exhausted and unhealthy worker cannot do more work as a happy and healthy worker can. More efficient workers will contribute greatly to the profit and growth of a company. So, employeers should give more free days to workers in order to make them more productive.
In conclusion, from my perpective, longer weekend and shorter working week can proved to be beneficial for both workers and owners. It can result in the betterment of health and efficiency of workers with improved health and personal relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support a shorter working week, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both workers’ wellbeing and employers’ interests, with relevant explanations about exercise, family time, mental health and productivity. The example contrasting an exhausted worker with a healthy one helps illustrate the business argument. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended and supported. To strengthen it further, develop the claim that shorter hours can increase company profits with a more specific example or explanation, and avoid broad claims such as “many employees” without showing when or why this applies. The discussion is relevant throughout, though some support remains general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present the benefits for workers and employers, and a conclusion summarises the argument. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “Furthermore” make the paragraph purposes easy to follow, while the ideas within each paragraph generally move logically from claim to explanation. To make the organisation more polished, vary the linking expressions and reduce repeated references to “more free days” and “better health.” Some sentences also contain several connected points, so separating or more clearly signposting the ideas about family time, hobbies and mental health would improve flow. Overall, the structure is clear and the reader can follow the argument throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss work, wellbeing and business, including “excessive workload,” “productive,” “efficient” and “profit and growth.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific language is attempted. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “less working days,” “improved health and relationships of worker,” and “proved beneficial for the profit.” There are also spelling errors, including “employeers,” “donot,” “acticities” and “perpective.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and control. Aim to use more natural combinations, such as “fewer working days,” “workers’ health and relationships,” and “benefit company profits,” and proofread carefully for spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses with “because,” “if” and “which,” and most of the argument remains easy to understand. Some sentences show useful control, such as “More efficient workers will contribute greatly to the profit and growth of a company.” There are nevertheless some grammatical errors and awkward constructions. For example, “a shorter working week … may result in improved health and relationships of worker” has problems with number and article use, while “longer weekend and shorter working week can proved” has an incorrect verb form and missing articles. The final sentence also repeats “health” in a way that weakens its structure. Check agreement, articles and verb forms, and revise long sentences so each clause is grammatically complete.
