Student answer (Band 6.0)

A good health is preliminary for sound mind and body, working weeks must be shrinked and working class should be given long weekends to relax and reset. I strongly back this idea because a healthy body with strong mind operates more productively.

Some argued that long weekends make people lazy and they do not perform their duty efficiently. Short working hours tend to get people more comfortable in their leisure time and less concerned about their professional lives. They get laid-back and procastinate often in completeing their assigned tasks.

In my perspective, to obtain maximum output from a human mind and human body, rest is much important. In this regard, less working timings can make people function more effectively, as they have to get done by work before the closing week. This also gives them a motivation to put an end to their tasks and spend holidays with their family.

Another reason to support this idea is people tend to get more days with their family and friends on weekends, and they can plan trips and parties, peacefully. Short weekends may got allow people to plan for far route trips, for instance, visit to the mountains or river sides. Some poeple like to visit country side but limited off days might not give a full chance to do so. So longer weekends provide this golden chance to have good time with friends and family and make memories.

In conclusion, long weekends asserts significant imapct on one's metal and physical health. While people can get more leisure time to sit with their families, friends or to meet other tasks that are mostly left unattended in working days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support shorter working weeks and longer weekends, and the conclusion returns to the benefits for health and family life. You also address more than one relevant reason, including rest, motivation and time for trips. This gives the response a solid, relevant foundation. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that shorter hours make workers finish tasks before the week ends would be stronger with a specific explanation or example of how productivity improves. The opposing view about laziness is introduced but not directly answered. Developing these points and linking them more explicitly to the proposed shorter working week would make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting a counterargument, two paragraphs supporting your view, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable central ideas, and phrases such as “In my perspective,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear. The shift from the counterargument to your own position could be made more explicit, and the travel paragraph repeats the idea of spending time with family and friends without clearly distinguishing its supporting points. The final sentence also reads as a continuation rather than a complete concluding statement. Use linking expressions selectively and make the relationship between each example and your main claim clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “productive,” “procrastinate,” “assigned tasks,” and “unattended,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also some noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form and spelling problems that make the expression less natural. For instance, “A good health is preliminary” and “working weeks must be shrinked” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically; “long weekends asserts significant imapct” also contains inaccurate forms and spelling. Other examples include “far route trips” and “river sides.” These errors show that you are reaching for varied vocabulary, but control is not consistent. Prioritise accurate, natural combinations such as “good health is essential,” “shorten the working week,” and “take longer trips.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the intended meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur across the response. For example, “Some argued that long weekends make people lazy” shifts awkwardly in tense, while “Short weekends may got allow people” has an incorrect verb construction. The final sentence beginning “While people can get more leisure time” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence, and “people tend to get more days” does not clearly express the intended comparison. Review verb forms, clause completeness, and agreement, then proofread each sentence to ensure it is grammatically complete.
