Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years , there has been a growing debate the working week should be shorter and employers should have a longer weekend. In my perspective, I agree with this idea because workers should maintain a balance between job and family life. It also helps workers mental health and their well being.

Firstly , the governments should implement the rule to both industries and companies that they shoild follow four days work three days holiday strategy. This will give more free time for employees to spend more time with their families. When workers want to go on a vacation they can plan more places to visit and spend quiet a lot of time with their loved ones. It gives more time to spend o their dsily hobbies , exercises , playing games and running etc this will relieve the stress to the workers. This is more beneficial to company because when a worker is continuously working for more than 4 days they feel stressed on what they are doing it will leads to errors this will cause delay of work.

secondly, Employers and employees could cooperate with each other. When this rule is implemented then, This will increase the work productivity because it motivates them to do more work in the given time. The employers should increase the employees and also increase the shifts , this will boost the employees to do maximum work in the given time thereby increase the work productivity.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that the working week should be shorter and employers should have a longer weekend. Although many industries and companies are facing this issue. They should make proper planning to resolve it. Overall, this change could bvenefit both employees and employers by improving well-being and workplace efficiency.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that a shorter working week can improve family life, well-being and workplace efficiency. These are relevant reasons, and you explain some consequences, such as reduced stress and fewer work errors. This meets the task well, while the discussion shows some of the fuller development expected at a higher level. In particular, the point about employers increasing staff and shifts is asserted rather than explained: clarify how this would be affordable or workable and how it supports a shorter week. The claim that companies face “this issue” is also vague. Develop each main reason with a specific example or a clearer explanation of its effects.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. “Firstly” and “secondly” signal the main points, and the conclusion returns to your position. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined together without clear sentence boundaries. For example, the first body paragraph moves from family time to holidays, hobbies, stress and workplace errors in a long sequence. Some linking is mechanical, and “Although many industries and companies are facing this issue” does not connect clearly to the preceding argument. Use clearer topic sentences, separate supporting points, and make references such as “this issue” explicit to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “work productivity,” “employees,” “stress” and “well-being.” There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “four days work three days holiday strategy.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear: “spend more time” is repeated, “quiet a lot” appears where “quite a lot” is intended, and “boost the employees to do maximum work” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “shoild,” “dsily” and “bvenefit” also weaken control. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “When this rule is implemented” and a reason clause beginning “because.” This shows some range, but control is uneven: several longer sentences contain multiple clauses without accurate punctuation or clear grammatical links. For example, “This is more beneficial to company because when a worker is continuously working … they feel stressed … it will leads to errors” has problems with articles, tense and verb agreement. The opening also needs a complete construction after “debate,” and “It also helps workers mental health” needs a possessive form. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
