Do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, the number of people are spending time with their works in the week rather than a longer weekend. I will agree with this statement because there are many reasons, which will support my perspectives.

In the beginning, people spend too much time on their offices, apartments and hospital or educational sectors. They have a lot of responsibilities on their shoulder such as children fees, billing and rent. People should less connect their jobs because they can easily spend time with family and friends that is why, every citizen must relax and stay touch with social friends everywhere.

On the other hand, some people can't explore prominent place in their country because they have a lot of work and owner pressure.

Aside variety of companies should less work for their leisure activities because there is one of the best source to relax and refresh their minds.

In many countries, many organisations working time in week minimum because of leisure activity.

From my point of view, many bodies prohibited overworking as a issues of overthinking and headaches pains.

In conclusion, I believe that, the weekend times are important for every person therefore it must release over pressure in their daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You take a position in favour of a longer weekend, stating, “I will agree with this statement,” and give relevant reasons such as spending time with family and relaxing. However, the response addresses the proposal only partially: it does not clearly explain how the working week should be shortened, and several points—such as “children fees, billing and rent”—are not connected to your argument. The ideas about exploring places and reducing overwork are mentioned but not developed with explanations or examples. The response is also 50 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to support your position. Develop two or three relevant reasons in detail and include a specific example for each.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Your response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. You also attempt to signal relationships with phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion.” However, the overall progression is unclear: “On the other hand” introduces another supporting point rather than a contrasting view, and the paragraph beginning “Aside variety of companies” is difficult to follow. Ideas are often placed next to one another without showing how they connect, while references such as “it” in the conclusion are unclear. Use one main idea per paragraph, arrange reasons in a logical order, and choose linking expressions that accurately show whether you are adding, contrasting or concluding.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “responsibilities,” “leisure activities,” “overworking” and “relax and refresh,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are unnatural, sometimes making the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “people spend too much time on their offices” and “owner pressure” do not express your ideas clearly, while “prominent place” is not a natural way to describe places people might visit. There is also repetition of general terms such as “people,” “work” and “week.” Build a more precise vocabulary for working hours and their effects, and check common word partnerships when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause in “I will agree with this statement because there are many reasons.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, agreement and verb forms. For instance, “the number of people are spending” has incorrect agreement and an awkward verb construction; “People should less connect their jobs” is not grammatically formed; and “many organisations working time in week minimum” lacks a clear verb and sentence structure. Articles, plurals and punctuation also need attention, as in “as a issues.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking each sentence for a complete verb and correct agreement.
