Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that business week should be smaller and the employees should have more holidays.
I strongly disagree with this point of view because an employer is already working five days a week, by giving more holidays schedule and workload will be disturbed, moreover increasing holidays will affect not only the industry, but it will also impact the overall economy of the country.
Firstly, working keeps us physically healthy and fit. In the whole week, a worker is working from Monday to Friday, in which every employee of an industry is working according to their schedule and workload. Increasing holidays will not on disturb the schedule of all employers, but it will also disturub the timetable of all staff. For instance, by shortening of work-days, the company will try to distribute the five days workload into shorter period, which in return will increase the workload on the employees.
In addition, time table and working hours will also be changed, and it will not only consume the time of employees but it will cost their physical and mental health.
Secondly, by reducing the working hours, the company will get short of meet its deadlines, which will badly impact the growth and profit of the industry. For example, two industries will not compete on equal basis, if the employers of one is taking more holidays and working for the shorter period of time, as compare to the one which has very strict policy of holidays and for the latecomers. Moreover, it will not affect just the the single institute, it will fluctuate the economy of the whole country.
In conclusion, though we enjoy having long weekends and more holidays, but it will negatively impact the overall gross domestic product, time distribution and workload. So, i strongly disagree with this point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you disagree with a shorter working week, and you give two relevant reasons concerning workload and economic effects. The examples about compressing five days’ work and competition between companies help connect your claims to the topic. This fits a response that addresses the task, but some ideas are less fully explained than others. In particular, the claim that working keeps people “physically healthy and fit” is not clearly linked to the case against longer weekends, and the effects on the national economy are asserted rather than demonstrated. To strengthen the response, explain the causal links and develop one example in more detail, while ensuring each main point directly supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion that restates your view. The main points are generally presented in a sensible order, and examples are placed alongside the claims they illustrate. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “Moreover,” “not only…but also,” and “For example.” Some links are also unclear: the opening claim about physical health does not lead smoothly into the discussion of schedules, and the reference to “two industries” is difficult to follow. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas, and make references explicit so readers can follow who or what is being compared.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “workload,” “deadlines,” “growth and profit,” and “gross domestic product,” which helps communicate your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “business week,” “more holidays schedule,” “short of meet its deadlines,” and “fluctuate the economy.” Spelling errors such as “disturub” also reduce accuracy. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning less immediate, even though the overall argument remains understandable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing working hours and economic consequences, and check whether verbs naturally combine with the nouns you use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” and the reader can generally understand your position. However, some sentence structures are faulty or difficult to control. For example, “by giving more holidays schedule and workload will be disturbed” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “the company will get short of meet its deadlines” has an incorrect construction. There are also errors with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the employers of one is taking” and the comma splice in the opening paragraph. Aim for clearer sentence patterns, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and separate complete clauses with appropriate punctuation.
