Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that workers should have a shorter working week and have a longer weekend. Although some might be agree with this statement, but i completely disagree. Not only because working week play a vital role in economical growth and pay more, but also because it increase productivity.

There are many benefilts associated with shorter weekends. Firstly, longer working week contributes in econimical growth. As the longer working week can increase the economy by 50 percent. Take an example of the China, where poeple work longer week and todays China is number one in economical growth. they build the exampe Thus, longer working week should be encourged.

Secondly, longer working week also pay more. As people work more they get higher pay. For instance, the people of the Germany work for longer week and get higer pay as double of their normal hourly wage. They get much better pay and can easily support their family and also can contibute in eonomical growth of their country. Hence, people should work for longer week to get higher pay.

Finaly, longer working week can improve the productiviy of people. As working days gave chances to pass through different kind of challenges and give more ideas and improve the producivity. It also imcrease power of thinking to tackle with different peoblems.

To sum up, I believe that longer working week should be encourged for the economical growth and to get higher pat cheques, but also to increase productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you disagree with a shorter working week and support longer hours. You also give three relevant reasons—economic growth, higher pay and productivity—with examples referring to China and Germany. However, the task is only partially developed: the examples are asserted rather than explained or supported, and the claim that China’s economy grows by “50 percent” is unclear. There is also a mismatch between the prompt’s proposal of a shorter week and your repeated discussion of a “longer working week”; clarify that you are arguing against reducing working hours. The response is two words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the length requirement. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a more specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for your reasons, and a concluding summary. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the main points. However, progression is weakened by repetitive conclusions within the body paragraphs, such as “Thus, longer working week should be encouraged” and “Hence, people should work for longer week.” Some links are also awkward or incomplete: “As the longer working week can increase the economy by 50 percent” is a fragment, and “they build the exampe” interrupts the China example. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each claim, explanation and example in a complete, logically ordered paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “economic growth,” “productivity,” “hourly wage” and “challenges,” and the reader can generally identify your intended arguments. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “benefilts,” “econimical,” “higer,” “contibute,” and “pat cheques”; “economical growth” is also not the natural phrase for growth in a country’s economy. Repetition of “longer working week,” “higher pay” and “people work” further restricts flexibility. Build a more accurate range of work-related expressions and check spelling carefully; use precise phrases such as “economic growth,” “earn a higher income” and “work longer hours.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentence forms, including “Although some might be agree with this statement, but i completely disagree” and sentences beginning with “As.” However, these attempts are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles or sentence construction. For example, “working week play” needs subject–verb agreement, while “it increase productivity” also has an incorrect verb form. “Although” and “but” should not be used together in this construction, and “As people work more they get higher pay” needs clearer punctuation and development. Sentence patterns are also repetitive, with several fragments beginning “As.” Practise writing complete sentences and check agreement, verb forms and article use before adding more complex structures.
