Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have to work few days at a week as compeared to numbers of days they are working currently at a week. As nowadays the working load on individual is very high and they are suffering from this. If a person work much days of week so they dont have time to other activities for thereselves and for relaxation. For example my uncle is working in a company and he work 5 days a week, then in his weekend he again have so must home responsibilties which he need to fulfill like shopping for home need, washing his whole week cloths etc so he have no any time left to enjoy and do anything for his personal desire.

Now working week should must need to be shorter and people should have longer weekend. As now technolgy is advanced and we are able to work more in less time. so due to which if we work few days a week we can manage our full week work by adopting latest technology, i am saying this for most of the sectors in which people are working. Like in previous time a clerk in his office have to maintain all records, informations and other stuff like this manually in registers, printed pages. and now he able to store database of each things in computer which is very easy and less time consuming. similarly he can do all calculation throgh automic softwares.

So we can conclude that we need to learn skills and adopt new latest technologies to reduce our working days at a week but maintain the amount of work which we are doing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you support a shorter working week and a longer weekend, and you give relevant reasons about workload, personal time and the benefits of technology. The uncle’s experience provides a concrete example, while the comparison between manual record-keeping and computer databases helps explain how work might be completed more efficiently. This fully covers the main question, but the support is uneven: the personal example mainly shows that weekends are busy, rather than demonstrating how a shorter week would improve workers’ lives, and the technology argument is asserted more than explored. To strengthen the response further, explain the likely benefits and practical limits of reducing workdays, and connect each example directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from the problem of workload and limited personal time, to technology as a reason shorter weeks may be possible, and then to a concluding recommendation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and examples generally appear beside the ideas they support. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The opening repeats “at a week,” and “Now working week should…” does not clearly signal how the technology paragraph develops the earlier point. Several sentences also contain multiple ideas joined loosely with “so” or “and,” making the progression harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise links between claims, examples and conclusions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “working load,” “responsibilities,” “latest technology,” “database” and “time consuming.” The examples also show an attempt to use specific terms rather than relying entirely on general language. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spellings are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the reader pause: “working load on individual,” “home responsibilities,” “work few days,” and “automic softwares.” Repetition of “work,” “week” and “time” also limits precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for workload, working hours and efficiency, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences that explain causes and examples, so there is some variety in structure. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur across verb forms, agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction. For example, “a person work much days” needs a plural subject–verb form and a different construction, while “a clerk … have to maintain” and “he able to store” show problems with verb agreement and missing auxiliary verbs. Some sentences run together or use incomplete structures, such as “As nowadays the working load…” and “Now working week should must need to be shorter.” Practise building accurate complex sentences, then check each clause for a subject, a correctly formed verb and clear punctuation.
