Student answer (Band 6.0)

Proponents for an efficient work life advocate for expanding the weekend days. This essay substantially agrees to the statement while discussing the positive outcomes of it like job productivity and stable mentality, also stating the less significant negative impacts such as urgency to meet targets.

On the one hand, if corporate workers have adequate time to invest in their personal life, the work hours will be more effective since they are likely to get relaxed after peace of mind. For example, scientific results published on Americal article times have mentioned that a well rested human brain is much more focused and concentrated on a task rather than a mind which is frequently used on problem solving, which in turn, would increase the productivity at a corporate institution.

In addition, employees will have an opportunity to enjoy a well maintained work-life balance while having enough time to maintain their personal relationships. For instance, young working generation would dress up and go out with their friends more often than now, when they have limited time for interactions with their loved ones. This could lead to a considerable reduction of mental stress and social isolation among youth.

However, there will be less time to cover the workload since number of working days will be shorter comparative to what it is now. Hypothetically, a fast tracked approach to having meetings might limit the connection between subordinates and supervisors which results an increase of work stress due to the piled up work.

In conclusion, expanding non working days provides several benefits such as efficient work hours and better mental health despite having some minor drawbacks like lack of time to cover work. Hence, i moderately agree that

workers should have a longer weekend..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you “substantially agree” and return to that view in the conclusion. You address both benefits and a drawback, with relevant points about productivity, work–life balance, mental health, and workload. The examples help explain the benefits, particularly the link between rest and concentration. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others: the productivity example is extended, while the claim that a shorter week could cause rushed meetings and stress is hypothetical and needs clearer explanation. The conclusion also says you “moderately agree,” which does not fully match the stronger position in the introduction. Keep your degree of agreement consistent and develop the counterargument with a specific, plausible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting the proposal, a paragraph considering a drawback, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “In addition,” and “However” make the direction of the argument easy to follow. Some connections are less smooth or precise, though. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph moves from personal time to more effective work hours without clearly explaining the link, and “which in turn” has an unclear reference in the long example. The conclusion repeats the main points but could synthesise them more directly. Use linking phrases to show the exact relationship between claims, and make references such as “this” or “which” point unmistakably to a specific idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “productivity,” “work-life balance,” “mental stress,” and “social isolation,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also some less natural choices and collocations that reduce precision, such as “expanding the weekend days,” “stable mentality,” and “a fast tracked approach to having meetings.” “Americal article times” is unclear and makes the cited example difficult to understand. Spelling and form also need attention, including “Americal” and “non working.” Aim for natural, accurate combinations rather than more elaborate wording: for example, describe “a longer weekend,” “mental well-being,” and “rushed meetings.” Clearer vocabulary will make your argument sound more controlled and credible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if corporate workers have adequate time” and a relative clause beginning “which in turn.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions affect accuracy. For example, “which results an increase” needs a grammatical pattern such as “which results in an increase,” and “since number of working days” needs an article before “number.” The final sentence is incomplete after “I moderately agree that,” and the lowercase “i” and doubled full stop also require correction. Review articles, prepositions after verbs, sentence completion, and punctuation, while keeping complex sentences manageable.
