Student answer (Band 5.5)

The working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend.

I do disagree with this statement because of several reasons. First of all, this will put a huge work load on people who enjoy a long weekend. This because of now they have to complete different tasks in less time period after having a long weekend. This work burrden can cause anxitey because they will have a pressure to complete their tasks.

Secondly after spending a long weekend at home. People when they return to work on the very first they after rest they feel laziness. Because it is difficult to focus on work as soon after rest. i am saying this because when i have to go to work after weekend I felt laziness at first day on work. There was a software company in my home town they were used to give a weekend of three days. So, employes have to work for four days only. When people hired about long weekend many people gave their CV for job in this company. But what happend the company gave every empoly weekly tasks which they have to complete within the week. So employes feel it burden to complete these tasks in a short time period of 4 days. One of my friend was also an employ in that company he told me that its very hard to complete the tasks within given time frame. Soon majority of employes of the company agreed on increasing a working day.

In my opinion two weekend days are enough for employes to relax. Such weekend does not put a huge work strees on employes, they have enough working days to complete their work

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening—“I do disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion that two weekend days are sufficient. You give relevant reasons about workload and difficulty refocusing after a longer break, then support these with a personal experience and the example of a local software company. This addresses the task and provides more than a bare opinion. However, the first reason is not fully explained: clarify how a shorter week would increase pressure, rather than assuming this follows automatically. The company example is more developed, but its relevance would be stronger if you explained whether the problem came from the shorter week itself or from the company’s workload expectations. The 13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted; the response meets the required length. To strengthen the response further, develop the reasoning and acknowledge a possible benefit of longer weekends before explaining why you disagree.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction stating your view, two supporting points, a company example, and a concluding opinion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “Secondly” help readers follow the main reasons, and the example generally follows the point about workload. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between sentences are unclear. For instance, “This because of now they have to complete different tasks” does not clearly connect the shorter week to the claimed pressure. The second point also moves from returning after a weekend to the company example without a clear transition. Use paragraph breaks to separate the two reasons and the conclusion, and make references such as “this” and “they” more precise. Vary linking language and show the relationship between each example and the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “work load,” “pressure,” “tasks,” “time frame,” and “working day.” Some phrases, such as “long weekend” and “weekly tasks,” are relevant and understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or collocation problems make the writing less natural: “feel laziness,” “work strees,” and “increasing a working day” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. Spelling errors such as “burrden,” “anxitey,” “employes,” and “happend” are also noticeable. Aim to learn vocabulary in useful combinations, for example, “struggle to meet deadlines” or “workload pressure,” and proofread spelling. More precise alternatives would help you explain the effects of a shorter working week without repeating general words such as “work” and “tasks.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“they have to complete different tasks in less time”) and a relative clause (“tasks which they have to complete”). These attempts help convey a sequence of events, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include the incomplete construction “This because of now they have to complete…” and the awkward sentence beginning “People when they return to work…”. There are also problems with articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, as in “on the very first they after rest” and “when I have to go to work after weekend I felt…”. Practise building clear sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses accurately. Check tense consistency when describing past experience and use punctuation to separate complete sentences.
