Student answer (Band 5.5)

The week should definately be shorter and weekend should be longer atleast the weekend should be of 3 days and thre should be 4 working days.

There can be so many reasons that why a weekend should be longer than 2 days for example, when a person works more their health gets compromised, so many people can not do their personal activites in just 2 days, people lose their friendships and most of the friends think that the person is just ignoring them or they are wanting space from their friends but in reality the one who's a corporate worker, only they knows the work load and pressure inside their head.

One of the biggest reason is that one's mental peace also gets disturbed at some point.

I agree with the point of having a longer weekend. As of my experience, i work 9 hours for 5 days every week and as soon as the weekend starts i just rot in bed and one day is already gone the next day if do fulfill my personal commitments or spend timr with family or i can go out with friends, other then these most of the time most of my personal tasks remain undone.

It also makes the person so exhausted and tired that they need more time to relax and be ready for the new week to start and join their offices or their work places.

So from my point of view the weekend should be longer atleast of 3 days or if it is of 2 days then their should be Monday, Tuesday working days then Wednesday off and then again Thursday and Friday should be work days and the the actual weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that the weekend should be longer, and you offer relevant reasons, including health, personal commitments, friendships and the need to recover from work. The personal example about working nine-hour days helps make your argument more concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the effect of work on friendships is mentioned, but the link to a shorter working week could be developed further. The final suggestion of a midweek day off is relevant, though its benefits are not explained or compared with a three-day weekend. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an overall progression from reasons for a longer weekend to your personal experience and a concluding recommendation. Paragraphing also separates the opening position, supporting points and conclusion. However, the first supporting paragraph contains several ideas in one long sentence, making the relationships between health, personal activities and friendships difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “One of the biggest reason” and “So from my point of view” help signal movement, but the connections are sometimes repetitive or awkward. Organise the reasons into clearer paragraphs, with one central idea in each, and use references such as “this extra time” to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work load and pressure,” “personal commitments,” “exhausted” and “mental peace.” These choices communicate your main concerns, but the range is limited and several phrases are informal or imprecise for an academic essay. For example, “rot in bed” is conversational, while “personal tasks remain undone” is more suitable; “the actual weekend” is also unclear in the proposed schedule. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “definately,” “activites” and “timr,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and a consistently formal register, while checking spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional explanation beginning “when a person works more” and a longer sentence describing your weekend routine. This shows some range, but complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “the one who's a corporate worker, only they knows” has unclear agreement and pronoun reference, while “the next day if do fulfill” is missing a subject. There are also errors with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, as in “weekend should be longer” and the long opening list of reasons. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate clauses and punctuation.
