Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries, employees are expected to work five days a week, leaving only two days to rest . some people argue that working week should be shortened so that workers can fully rest. I strongly agreee with this perspective beacuse it can improve employees well being and increase workplace productivity .

One major benefits of shorter working week is that it can improve people's physical and mental health. By implementing this method, employees who work longer hours can spend much more time with family and can take proper rest. Employees who work long hours can experience stress and exhaustion, an additional day off would allow them to take rest, get their personal affairs done as well as they can spend more time with family. As a result, workers may return to their workplaces feeling energectic and refreshed. They would feel motivated and would also help reduce burnouts.

Another benefit is that longer weekends enhances productivity. There can be seen a disparity between workers who works longer and workers who are revitalised and energetic. Only longer weekends can reduce stress workers and can diminshes the impact of failures. Adequately rested employees may demonstrates greater output , concentration and accomplish their responsibility more efficiently. For instance, companies that have four working days may encourage workers to assign their time more strategically and strengthen the thesis.

On the other hand, shorter working week can be impractical for certain jobs , for instance, nurse, doctors and public transport. Government and business should implement convenient working arrangements rather than expanding working weeks.

To conclude, shorter working week and longer weekends can help employees to take adeqaute rest and to improve in respective sectors , however it's implementation should be adaptable to every industries

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support a shorter working week, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the main task with two relevant reasons—better health and improved productivity—and give some explanation of how extra rest could help workers. However, the development is uneven. The health point is explained more fully, while the productivity paragraph relies on broad claims, and the example about four-day companies does not clearly show how productivity improves. You also acknowledge that shorter weeks may not suit essential services, but the proposed solution of “convenient working arrangements” is not explained. Develop this example and clarify how your proposal could work in such sectors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterpoint and a conclusion. The progression from health benefits to productivity is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “One major benefits,” “Another benefit” and “On the other hand” help identify the stages of the argument. At times, however, connections between ideas are unclear or mechanical. For example, “There can be seen a disparity” does not clearly explain the contrast, and “strengthen the thesis” feels disconnected from the example before it. Some references, such as “this method,” are also vague. Use clearer links that show cause and effect, and make sure each sentence develops the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including terms such as “physical and mental health,” “exhaustion,” “concentration” and “working arrangements.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “strategically” and “revitalised.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “reduce stress workers,” “diminshes the impact of failures” and “strengthen the thesis” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “energetic,” “adequate” and “implementation” also occur, alongside “agreee” and “beacuse.” These errors do not prevent the overall message from being understood, but careful proofreading and more natural topic collocations would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “By implementing this method, employees … can spend much more time with family” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “One major benefits” should use a singular noun with “one,” while “longer weekends enhances” has a plural subject that requires a plural verb. In “employees who works longer,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and “Adequately rested employees may demonstrates” combines the modal “may” with an incorrect verb form. Review agreement and modal patterns, and proofread punctuation and spacing.
