Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is important for workers to have a long weekend and working week should be shorter. I am strongly agree with this statement. I will explain the same with reasons and exampleas in my essay.

Firstly, workers can enjoye their weekend with family because they have enough days for entertainment. Although they have tired from daily office routine, they can go to picnic parties in a longer weekend. For example, if workers are living far away from their work place, they need a longer weekend to meet with their families. It is because half of their vacation will be spend during journey. As a result, their mental health will be calm and they can give proper attention to work. They will be able to manage their work in a short period.

However, a longer working week may disturb their health condition. They need a short break for relaxation. For example, if they have a lot of work burden, they may suffer from hedeach pain or anxiety. As a result, they will not be able to complete work at a time. Furthermore, a longer weekend is necessary for them to get some rest. For instance, they can watch movies or they can go to their friends, they will be happy. As a result, they will do their work peacefully.

In conclusion, a longer weekend has advantages for workers. It is useful for their health and give chances to be socialize. It is necessary for workers have a longer weekend rather than shorter.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly support a shorter working week and longer weekend, and you give relevant reasons, including family time, travel distance, rest and workers’ health. The examples about spending time travelling and experiencing headaches or anxiety help connect the issue to workers’ lives. However, the support is uneven: the point that a longer weekend improves mental health is asserted rather than explained, and the claim that workers can manage their work in a shorter period needs a clearer link to reduced hours. The second body paragraph also shifts between the effects of a longer working week and the benefits of a longer weekend. Develop each main reason with a more explicit explanation of how it supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “For example,” “As a result” and “In conclusion” help show relationships between points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. In the second body paragraph, the discussion moves from health problems caused by a longer working week to relaxation, then to watching movies or visiting friends, without a clear sequence of distinct supporting points. “As a result” is also repeated, and some connections between sentences are asserted rather than made explicit. Organise each paragraph around one main reason and use a wider, more precise range of links and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “mental health,” “relaxation,” “work burden” and “vacation.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “enjoye,” “exampleas,” “picnic parties,” “work place” and “hedeach pain”; “give chances to be socialize” is also an awkward expression. Repeated use of “longer weekend,” “work” and “as a result” limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise choices would make your arguments clearer and more fluent without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although,” “because” and “if,” so there is some variety. The main meaning is usually understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “I am strongly agree” should be “I strongly agree,” “they have tired” needs a suitable verb construction, and “half of their vacation will be spend” should use the past participle “spent.” The conclusion also has errors in “give chances” and “necessary for workers have.” Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “It is necessary for workers to have…” and review subject–verb agreement and verb forms. Greater control of these structures would make your ideas easier to follow.
