Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are some emplyees who tend to believe that they should have longer weekends as they work for long hours through the week. This essay firmly agrees with the following statement because I believe that providing longer weekends and shorter office hours to job-holders assist to reduce the employee burnout segment for which many employees tend to quit their jobs.

Admittedly, longer office hours are designed to provide better outcome through employees which can be used in organisational market competition.Furthermore, longer hours at workplace tend to generate effectiveness and efficiency from manpower which is quite beneficial for the organisation they are working on.Nevertheless, these longer hours at office and shorter weekends are tend to make the employees feel demotivated,less-inspired,depressed and overwhelmed. As a consequence, they do not feel the motivation to go to office every day and do their monotonous activities related to their job positions for long hours routinely.

From my perspective, working long hours at the workplace and less weekend can be overwhelming for some employees.I believe that, working short hours at office may generate more productivity, efficiency and effectiveness through employees rather than working long hours lingering at the office. For instance,if a job-holder works for long hours their body and brain mechanism can not generate extra-ordinary ideas for better outcome whereas,if an office-worker can get longer weekends and working for less hours then the hours spent at the office will be more motivational and inspirational. The employee will tend to enjoy their working hours and can produce more productiveness which will generate better outcomes for the organisation.Otherwise, employees will turn to burnout because of the pressurised workplace environment and will end up quitting their jobs.

In conclusion,it is imperative to provide employees with shorter hours at the office and extended weekends to refresh their minds to restart properly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that shorter working hours and longer weekends can reduce burnout and prevent employees from quitting. You address both sides by acknowledging that longer hours may benefit organisational performance before explaining their drawbacks. The example contrasting tired workers with those who have more time to rest is relevant, and the conclusion reinforces your view. This meets the task well, with some elements of a more fully developed response. However, several claims remain general: the benefits of longer hours are asserted rather than illustrated, and the productivity example would be stronger with a specific workplace or experience. Develop the causal links more precisely, especially how reduced hours would improve output in practice.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph acknowledging the opposing view, a paragraph developing your position, and a conclusion. The progression from possible organisational benefits to employee burnout is understandable, and connectors such as “Furthermore,” “Nevertheless,” and “As a consequence” help signal relationships. At times, however, cohesion feels mechanical because several transitions are used in close succession, while some sentences contain multiple ideas joined without clear boundaries. For example, the long sentence beginning “For instance, if a job-holder works for long hours” moves through tiredness, longer weekends, motivation, productivity, and organisational outcomes. Divide such sequences into clearer steps and use pronouns or linking phrases with precise references to make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “employee burnout,” “organisational market competition,” “demotivated,” and “pressurised workplace environment.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “generate effectiveness and efficiency from manpower,” “produce more productiveness,” and “working on” an organisation do not express the intended meanings naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “emplyees” and “extra-ordinary.” Aim for established combinations such as “improve productivity,” “benefit the organisation,” and “generate innovative ideas.” More accurate, natural phrasing would make your argument clearer and allow your vocabulary range to work more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “whereas,” and “if,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “providing longer weekends and shorter office hours … assist” needs subject–verb agreement, while “these longer hours … are tend to make” combines incompatible verb forms. In “if a job-holder works for long hours their body and brain mechanism,” the conditional clause needs clearer punctuation and the following noun phrase requires more accurate number and agreement. Commas are also missing after introductory phrases. Review these patterns and break up long sentences; this would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
