Student answer (Band 5.5)

The working week should be reduced so that employees can enjoy a longer weekend. I partially agree with this statement.

As we know employees working for hours in an organizations does not get much time to spend with there families as they be having pressure or deadline to complete the work. Due to this there mental health gets affected handling lots of stress and also there physical health as they don't get much time to exercise. so all this point out that they should get longer weekend so that they can fulfill all there needs because well rested employee can give better and faster results which may help in company's growth.

And people and persue with there hobbies, exercise , travel, or learn new skills.

However giving long weekends may result in company's loss Workers may have to complete the same amount of work in fewer days, which can increase stress. and getting less amount of salary as many workers work on hourly basis. Companies may need to hire more employees to maintain their usual operations, increasing costs. Customers may find it difficult to access certain services if businesses operate for fewer days. companies should carefully plan their working schedules before introducing a shorter working week. If employees have different days off, it may become difficult to arrange meetings and work together. Small businesses may struggle to operate efficiently with fewer working days because they have limited staff. Both employers and employees may find it challenging to adapt to a shorter working week.

In conclusion i think workers should get the long weekends by the company's but under some rules and precautions so that both should not bare the losses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you partially agree, and the conclusion supports longer weekends provided safeguards are in place. You address relevant benefits, including time for family, exercise and hobbies, and consider drawbacks such as increased workload, costs for businesses and access to services. This covers both sides of the question. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that a shorter week could mean “getting less amount of salary” needs clarification, and the benefits could be supported with a specific example. Develop the conditions behind your partial agreement—such as how hours or pay might be protected—to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “However” helps readers follow the shift in argument. Within the body paragraphs, though, ideas are often crowded together, and the benefits paragraph ends with the fragment “And people and persue with there hobbies…”. The disadvantages paragraph also moves rapidly from pay to staffing, customers and meetings without grouping or explaining these points. Capitalisation and punctuation sometimes obscure the progression, such as the run-on transition after “company's loss”. Use clear topic sentences, separate related points into sentences, and connect each example explicitly to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “mental health”, “deadline”, “hourly basis”, “usual operations” and “working schedules”. These choices show an adequate range for discussing workplace effects and business concerns. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, including “company's loss”, “fulfill all there needs” and “bare the losses”; these make parts of the argument less natural. There are also spelling or word-form problems such as “persue”. Aim for precise, conventional phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing general expressions such as “lots of stress” with more formal wording would also make the discussion sound more controlled and academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional structure beginning “If employees have different days off”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, pronouns, articles and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “employees … does not get” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “there families” and “there mental health” use the wrong pronoun form. The sentence beginning “As we know” is overloaded, and “And people…” is not a complete sentence. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately; also check capital letters and full stops when proofreading.
